It's his last big contract. He's going to want to get paid. I don't see him taking even that much of a discount, especially if he plays well for us.

I don't know - the last four seasons he's played only 147 games and 3/4 of those years weren't really productive. I don't think he'll get a crazy number.

I can’t say I’ve seen THAT much of him, but I’ve watched him at least a dozen times between the last two years. He’s nothing spectacular but he’s an actual third pairing D man. He has pretty good mobility for his size and I thought he was pretty chippy and looked good. He’s a straight stay at home D who is passable with the puck but don’t expect much. He’s simply an upgrade on Harper/Hajek with really good size who plays a physical, slightly scrappy game.

Fowler wasn't a slam dunk but he would've filled a Rangers need (at the time) as a PMD. Mcilrath was puzzling.

Not really. If Laf and Kakko had busted out like Kane and Toews or some other high end picks then we'd be there. We may still get there. Should we sit around waiting? Let our older good players decline first? We might very well have a long stretch of teams that can and sometimes will go deep. One of them might reach the promised land. It's really all I ask for.
