Although I'm considering Kucherov (if he would score more goals), maybe even McDavid (if he had remotely more like that one 64 goals season), but in this era it's clearly Draisaitl to me.
As of today he's on pace for a 60+60 season (pace for 60G, 64A), among active players only McD has one.
Clearly on pace for 50+50, which would be his fourth, leading all active players.
I think it's realistic he might add two more 50+50 seasons, recording six of them at the end of his career. Only Gretzky and Bossy got more.
To me the overall count of 50+50 seasons is a good indicator for players combining goal scoring and playmaking abilities, as it requires consistent display of both skills at the highest level.
There will always be some discrepancy because player X might be a better sniper or playmaker than player Y and vice versa. But I think it's not a coincidence that Gretzky (9 times) and Bossy (7 times) are leading the bunch with 50+50 seasons. Gretzky surely is the greatest playmaker all-time, while Bossy might be the greatest sniper all-time (among other candidates).
And of course you also got to be very, very good at the other category to get somewhere close to that 50+50 count.
(although I can already hear folks screaming "but Bossy s**ked at playmaking" lol)
