What are the odds the Rangers re-sign Mikkola
Close to zero, I think

a little late but glad to have a Finn buddy for KakkoWhat are the odds the Rangers re-sign Mikkola
Well if two of them go then you still have Othmann, Kravtsove, this year's first, next year's first and potentially prospects rangers can get from trading older pieces. Nothing is ever static and assets in an organization are always changing. Rangers have a surplus of prospects and young players. This trade seemed low stakes with that in consideration.Yes but if two of them go and then I add another young, dynamic kid line... that's how multi winners are born.

I'm not sure we can afford that. Let's see how he plays.a little late but glad to have a Finn buddy for Kakko
if he is genuinely much better than Harpur, and would sign for ~Blais money, I'd re-sign for 2 seasons
Are we doing phrasing? This should help both our pp's exponentially.
youre showing your ass here. The Penguins didn't add heavily when they won. I looked at this a while back and posted it. My recollection is that prior to Tampa paying a first for Goodrow most of the recent winners before that did not add heavily at all.
St. Louis gets the worse of the 2 1sts.what's the condition around the 1st round pick we gave up?
Now that Tarasenko is here, if you're asking me if I would buyout Goodrow (worst case scenario) so I can fit in Tarasenko @ $5.5-6m on a 3 year deal, I'm leaning towards yes
Buying out Goodrow doesn't give us enough space to sign Tarasenko to that deal. Now that Tarasenko is here, if you're asking me if I would buyout Goodrow (worst case scenario) so I can fit in Tarasenko @ $5.5-6m on a 3 year deal, I'm leaning towards yes
Does this guy Niko Mikkola hit?
Blais and Skinner going is fine.
The first is not. Would have been ok if it was a 2nd with a condition of turning into a first had we made the Finals or something.
It looks just as shitty the day it was made. And it nothing to do with blais, but rather getting a second instead of a firstThat Buch trade looks pretty hilarious now.

youre showing your ass here.
Tampa paid a 1st for goodrow at the deadline, and you're using them as an example for your argument of doing the opposite of that.
Why did y’all hate me for the perfectly built thread ? All valid points abovewe were two games away from the Stanley Cup Finals last year. I don't think we are about "winning a round or two"
Upgraded Strome with Trochek
Upgrading Vatrano with Tarasenko
Downgrade Copp with Vesey?
Healthy Goodrow
Better Kid Line
Better Schneider
Better Miller
BEST Goaltender in the world
Trouba is now the most feared hitter in the league
Upgrading Braun/Nemeth with Mikkola
Rooney, Reaves, Hunt, Motte ---> Gauthier, Cuylle, Leschyshyn, Kravtsov (arguably the area we could most improve on)
people clamoring for Motte, Watson, Lafferty, Bonino, etc (probably can't afford Barbashev anymore) and we have cap for another bottom 6 tweak like that.
This is a better team.
Tarasenko is also a cup winner so bonus points there.
They have nothing to do with each other. We couldn't afford Buch at the time. That Buch trade looks pretty hilarious now.

Just because you been catching a lot of flak in the thread.. I think it's gonna be fun as hell seeing Tarasenko on this team. Undeniably makes this a better team, probably puts us in that contender picture. There's a bit of a knee jerk reaction that you have to love the move. Frankly we didn't give up much to make this deal but I'm not too crazy about giving up the first. And it's not because I think you can't give up firsts at the deadline. Our right side was Kakko, Goodrow, Vesey and Gauthier.. Kakkos just turning the corner as a top 6 player. So maybe you got 1 guy. It's rare for a Cup team to fill such a big hole with a deadline acquisition. Generally these teams dont need the big fish. They have a deep, established group and add some extra depth at forward and defense. Hopefully it doesn't become a theme where we need to bring in mercenaries every deadline to fill major holes on the right side because we can't address it properly. The cap makes it tricky but it's something that Tampa addressed properly by acquiring Hagel. They gave up an arm and a leg but it made sense for them. Palat left, Hagel took his spot and the guy is on pace for just under 70 points getting paid 1.5 million a year. We still have a first so it's not that big of a deal I just feel there were maybe some other options that made more sense rather than chasing the big fish. Barabanov and Kubalik make 2.5 million a year with an extra year. Both top 6 wingers that you could plug on the right side. Fills a hole and cheap enough that you could still retain your players in the off-season. But kinda had to figure Drury was going to deal one of the firsts, I'd just rather see it for a piece that we could hold on to past this seasonThe Penguins didn't add heavily when they won. I looked at this a while back and posted it. My recollection is that prior to Tampa paying a first for Goodrow most of the recent winners before that did not add heavily at all.
