Vesey with Vinnie and Kreider should be a very good line that plays a solid 200 ft game.Dropping Goodrow to line 4 helps that line too

I agree that it's the only spot for him, but then I look at how much ice time they are getting recently, plus how much Vesey is getting, and I just can't see GG suddenly going "yup, Krav fits like a glove' after not trusting him to play at all
The only other option is to leave him in the press box and I don't see how that helps anyone.

I've said all along that Drury decided before he came back that he was going to trade him first chance he got. There's a little less than a month left until the deadline....I think he plays until Drury finds someone to take him.

I was expecting the worst, but I think Drury did a great job on this trade.

-No way was Blais staying.
-I don't consider Skinner a particularly valuable prospect.
-It's the lower of the firsts.
-Conditional 3rd/4th

In one shot he added the top-6 RW we needed along with the extra LD insurance.

And he did it without giving up any of the better prospects/young players in Othmann, Cuylle, Robertson, Krav, Chytil, Kakko, Schneider, or Laf.

I still might like an extra 4th line option, but we got extra options now.

I think he maybe gets a game here or there and is depth for the playoffs, and then gets moved at the draft for a pick or as part of a pick upgrade package

I'm not thrilled with moving the first, but at least it's the later one. Ideally they'll still have their second rounder and can parlay some assets to move up and secure Nate Danielson. The one benefit here is they paid the price of the first rounder to get two upgrades simultaneously instead of paying a bit more in secondary assets for the W and D upgrades separately. Getting Blais and Harpur out of the lineup is a huge win for us value wise, and this helps slot Vesey and/or Goodrow much better in the lineup so that we actually have depth.

Mikkola is low-event and boring, but he can actually defend and PK and use his size to help get the puck out of the d zone. I'm sure Drury was watching Harpur get absolutely wrecked by Phil Di Giusseppe on a basic forecheck and knew he needed the upgrade there. Glad we're done with that for now. Just figure out how to get rid of Leschyshyn because that's been a failed experiment and roll the following:

Panarin-Zibanejad-Tarasenko
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Kravtsov
Vesey-Goodrow-Gauthier

I liked Blais better than I liked Dan Fritsche, but some things just weren't meant to be. Will never forget his pre-season goal against the Devils.
Hot Bet: Tarasenko will be off playing with Zib and Panarin after two games.

Correct me if I'm wrong....don't they get to keep the lower of the two picks?

Let’s call a spade a spade. It’s a 3rd.
The condition is the rangers make the playoffs.

we were two games away from the Stanley Cup Finals last year. I don't think we are about "winning a round or two"

Upgraded Strome with Trochek
Upgrading Vatrano with Tarasenko
Downgrade Copp with Vesey?
Healthy Goodrow
Better Kid Line
Better Schneider
Better Miller
BEST Goaltender in the world
Trouba is now the most feared hitter in the league
Upgrading Braun/Nemeth with Mikkola
Rooney, Reaves, Hunt, Motte ---> Gauthier, Cuylle, Leschyshyn, Kravtsov (arguably the area we could most improve on)
people clamoring for Motte, Watson, Lafferty, Bonino, etc (probably can't afford Barbashev anymore) and we have cap for another bottom 6 tweak like that.

This is a better team.
Tarasenko is also a cup winner so bonus points there.
Copp got injured for playoffs and became a non factor

Goodrow is better than Jimmy

I’d do a 4th of Vesey , trade for a C, Goat

I’m still trading Kravtsov and waiving Leschysyn by the deadline .

So I guess we are looking at

Panarin - Zib - Tank
Kid Line
Kreider - Trocheck - Vesey
Cuylle - Goodrow - Gauthier

Miller - Trouba
Lindgren - Fox
Mikkola - Schneider
Harpur

This is what I see. Would love to find a speedy third line type to compliment Kreider and Trochek better and bump Vesey down. Also would have no problem spending a 4th on Motte again.

Something like:

Panarin - Zib - Tank
Laf - Chytil - KK
Kreider - Trochek - Athanasiou/Domi
Motte - Goodrow - Vesey

Would be pretty formidable if the kids can keep it up and everyone is healthy. Depends on the price for the third line guys.

I think we’ve not seen the last of Cuylle. Cup of coffee now, back to HFD for a month to work on what he needs to work on, then back after the deadline. As for 4C, I really like Lafferty. He’s a guy Gallant will love but is actually good and fits the PK Speed Physicality we need. I don’t think Gauthier is in the long term plans. he deserves to play on a team he can develop his skills, but he’s not a real bottom 6 option for us. If he gets the runway he needs on a rebuilder he could be a poor man’s Alex tuch

Goodrow is too slow for them.Vesey is a better skater and fit for that line

Well let’s see tomorrow’s lines
I almost rather Kravtsov get a look with them
Just move Goodrow or Vesey their for D late in games

Vesey , Goodrow , Gauthier

He hasn’t had a great year and is a rental. I don’t like giving up the 1st for that.
Blues have been a dump this season, Drury is gambling on the change of scenery and playing with Panarin will have him at an all star level again. I think it's a good gamble.
