the PP1 is jakes to lose.

he has the cannon up top that all good pp's have.

respect the big shot and that opens up space down below. we haven't had a bomber back there in forever. that shot of his will make teams respect the top of our pp.

the PP2 unit, if they are smart, would be both ADA and fox on top and something like chytl or lias with kravtsov and buchnevich

Wanting trouba to be the trigger man on a PP featuring Zibanejad, Kakko, and Panarin might be the dumbest idea ever....

no offense
Should be plenty of shooting opportunities to go around. We also need the high PK forwards to take the point shot seriously and try to get in the shooting lane which will then open up passing options.

I find it extremely hilarious that a bunch of people on these boards are attacking a 23 year old for attempting to create a bit of leverage for himself in a negotiation. It didn't work out. Gorton called his teams bluff. This doesn't mean he's a bad kid or unintelligent. His team had a plan in place, they played their hand and folded. It happens.

Glad he's back with us, he's a massive improvement over anyone left we could've tried to replace him with.

Maybe i'm naive, but hopefully his holding out was partly negotiating for what his NEXT deal will be, knowing the Rangers can't give him a proper one this year

There were no negotiations about the next contract--that one will be based on performance. ADA will earn it (or not) based on what happens on the ice this season.

It's not dumb at all. The PP won't run through Trouba, it's going to run throughh Kakko and Panarin, who will have the puck a lot. Trouba has a better shot than either of Fox or ADA but he's not as good of a facilitator so it's more advantageous to have him be a shooting option looking for a pass from Kakko and as ODC said opens up more options. On the 2nd unit there won't be as much talent so ADA and Fox can run the PP.

This.

This was encouraging to see for Tony fans

Quinn from Vince’s article:

"It’s good to have him back," Quinn said. " He’s a big part of our future and he had a real strong second half last year. Listen, there’s a business side to this. We all understand that, but we’ve been anticipating this day for a little while now and we’re glad to have him back."

I’d like to see him get a multi year deal next summer. A bridge deal like the one Werenski or McAvoy signed. 3 years 5 mil or so in this case with Fox and Lundkvist in the system would be ideal imo.

and there it is

been saying this the whole time

its business

I noticed the regular handful of posters who were trashing him in the other thread relentlessly suddenly went AWOL. Hmm

I'm still here! I think my posts is the reason why he signed.

You can all thank me for convincing him. Just another day of me committing 71% of my employers time for you fellows.

Someone made a good point on the Trade board thread.

Why didn't a team OS him at 1 year, 1.35? It would have been tough for the Rangers to match that with the cap and based on the compensation tiering, there is no compensation for that.
Maybe they tried and he said No.

Maybe. Offer Sheets are big news. I'm sure it would have been reported if a team signed him to one.
But then he would have to.....sign. As @egelband said, maybe he said no, so no news at all. Also, if you follow Tony on twitter you know the last thing he wants is to have to up and move again for a new team. He was super excited to last more than a year here and even tweeted about sticking around a while back.

My world’s smallest violin plays for Tony and his $925,000 salary
