I still don't understand why we gave Trouba 8 mil instead of the expected 7.5 mil and then we force ADA sign at minimum. Just really poor asset management. Just like those unnecessary 2 year 4 million contracts to Spooner and Namestnikov.

Interesting take.

Avery was turning into a Claude lemeuix type and then he went ‘diva’ ;)
Sean Avery was never close to being a Claude Lemieux type....not even close . From April until mid June there might be a handful who performed better than Claude Lemieux in their careers.....he was a playoff WARRIOR .

Yea. 4M signs about right to me.

I also don't understand why we didn't extend ADA for 8 years @ 3M. WTF is Gorton thinking? God he's terrible. He should have signed Panarin for like, 4.5m. And why didn't he trade Staal for a 1st?

Fire Groten.

You make it sound like Trouba requested $7.5m, and our counteroffer was $8.0m.

If Names and Strome return a 2nd or 3rd a piece at the deadline, then there's your reason why.

Pretty decent asset management. We haven't had to let go of anyone for pennies on the dollar.

I do actually prefer the PP1 point man to either have a bad shot or a good shot and choose not to use it much. Slapshots from the point are low percentage chances and PP that structure around them generally aren’t very good.

I think the threat of the big bomb from the point might be more important than the actual shot...if there is no threat from the point the pkers don't need to cover and can fill the passing lanes. but if they have to stay high on trouba to respect the threat of the shot, that could open things up for kakko to make plays off the half wall

we have. Spooner(got lucky with Strome), Vesey, Zucc, Shattenkirk.

You can't say we traded Spooner for pennies on the dollar, but were lucky that we got more value in return. It was an even swap, which happened to work out for a "profit." That's the definition of positive asset management.

We got a 3rd for Vesey. Great return. Again, it's a net positive trade. Put it this way...Vesey paid for half of Fox. 10/10, would trade again.

We got slightly less than we wanted for Zuccs...but we rolled the dice on conditions. While not returning full value, it's far from "pennies on the dollar," with an outside change of receiving an overpayment.

Shatty was a great contract the day he signed. Boy oh boy, that one didn't work out. And yet, we would have bought out one Dman, whether or not we had cap space, IMO. So yes, we had to dump exactly one player that got derailed by injuries and extreme baldness.

If you don’t think Avery had the potential to be a Claude lemeuix type player than you missed his tiny prime
