Good he signed...I imagine Adam fox playing so well put some pressure on him. I'm actually liking most of the makeup if this team LGR
It would be really cool if ADA said he sped up his timeline up because of how well Fox played on wed.

I find it extremely hilarious that a bunch of people on these boards are attacking a 23 year old for attempting to create a bit of leverage for himself in a negotiation. It didn't work out. Gorton called his teams bluff. This doesn't mean he's a bad kid or unintelligent. His team had a plan in place, they played their hand and folded. It happens.
No, you don't understand. He struggled to come to grips with reality and Range.... Gorton won.

We don't know yet. But I'm saying that the gold out maybe was more about the way the contract is structured than the actual AAV. 1-way contract for instance, or a higher guaranteed AHL salary if it's a 2-way deal. Or maybe part of it being a signing bonus.

Since this is a regular SPC and not an ELC, a lot of the variables can be negotiated

Realistically, there are no variables. I'm pretty sure that bonuses are not allowed on a RFA contract and since ADA is subject to waivers it really doesn't matter what his AHL salary would be--he's not going to end up in the minors.

performance bonuses that would raise the value of the contract are not allowed but nothing prevents signing bonuses, the cap hit is signing bonus plus base salary so it doesn't change the cap hit since its already part of it

Wanting trouba to be the trigger man on a PP featuring Zibanejad, Kakko, and Panarin might be the dumbest idea ever....

no offense

So... ideally you want your PP1 point man to have a lousy shot...?

That Zubov guy was a pretty good point man despite playing with some pretty talented forwards...

100%

He would never clear waivers

Agree, from the little I’ve seen of him, he’d easily be scooped up. He’s clearly an NHL dman.

Seems to play with a little attitude too, kind of skater you want on your team and aren’t crazy about if he’s playing against your team.

The sad thing is that it's almost too easy to forget that he was once a player on the cusp of carving out a niche where he could also pop in 20 goals and 50 points on an annual basis.

Obviously everyone remembers the antics, but he was not slouch as a player either.
Avery was turning into a Claude lemeuix type and then he went ‘diva’ ;)

I'll say this much:

While everyone is hoping for a big year from ADA, I also think the end result could be a difficult negotiation process next summer.
That’s why you hear everyone saying it’s not gonna end well and it’s a headache. He’s gonna be traded, but the antics he’s pulled leads me (at least) to believe he’s gonna push for a trade next off-season and ala trouba use the ‘don’t trade for me cuz I won’t sign easy or early’ to end up in philly or some other city of his choosing. And that’s gonna hurt the return even if he has a great season and it’s gonna be pulling teeth to get the other team to even offer a reasonable contract. And the rest of the NHL is gonna love it bc I’m sure they don’t like the way the rangers used their nyc advantange to secure a couple players this summer

On the same token, so long as he isn’t a cancer in the locker room and talking all sorts of negative crap, and he’s giving his best and standing up for his teammates while he’s here. I’m fine with it. You win some you lose some.

I hope tony D has a great season and he can cash in and gets where he wants and that we get a fair return and that return karmically turns into an important piece :)

I do actually prefer the PP1 point man to either have a bad shot or a good shot and choose not to use it much. Slapshots from the point are low percentage chances and PP that structure around them generally aren’t very good.

And all Trouba has to shown for his big point shot is 6 career power play goals (3 last year)

I see we’ve turned back to the he called a kid a ****** portion of the ADA debate.. always fun

Yup. I'll take that whole clean, beautiful passing 5v5 thing AND smooth PP passing over just a booming slapshot.

I honestly think the PP1 should rotate Troubda and TDA, really keep teams on their toes.

Ohhh man, D R O O L

I still don't understand why we gave Trouba 8 mil instead of the expected 7.5 mil and then we force ADA sign at minimum. Just really poor asset management. Just like those unnecessary 2 year 4 million contracts to Spooner and Namestnikov.
