Waivers and one-way/two-way aren't related.
No kidding.

So the Rangers are going to offer DeAngelo a two-way contract, knowing that they only way they can get a benefit from it is if they waive him? Not seeing it.

I don't think it was ever a consideration either. They're just not related.

Put it this way, if a two-way deal was on the table for DeAngelo, I don't think the Rangers would consider him a good enough player to worry about waivers with anyway.

Looking at the bigger picture here, but this is absolutely a make or break year for both him & Lemieux. If both have good seasons, I’m not so sure NYR will hold onto them with the massive salary cap hit for buying out Shattenkirk next season.

Very much trade bait unfortunately....

Big question is.....does he play with a chip on his shoulder all season.....an "F you", now pay me kinda year?

Or....does he pout about the situation all year....get his "stats" while having those occasional "you need a time-out, go sit in the corner" moments?

Wow, he broke. Very surprised but pleased he saw logic. He scores 40 points this year with all the new firepower we've acquired and he can be right up there with all those other crazy contracts dmen have been getting of late. Will be happy to trade for a 1st and replace him with Lundkvist

@jt80 @mmassaro @Jamal Kingsley @Pdubs @NYRHokie

I see you lurkers in this thread. With your, zero posts.

Which one of you guys is ADA?

ADA played this properly. his team had nothing to lose. the deal was always there.

what did he miss, some off ice conditioning stuff and 1 preseason game against the debs maybe 2 ?

in the scope of things, it's zilch really.

one thing is for certain, if hes you 2RD the entire season and gets some PP1 or 2 time, as far as value goes, he will be right up there with the best value deal in the entire league.

925k for @ 40-45 points room the blue line is a GREAT deal. his team will remind them of that next season too.

hell get paid by someone next year either here or hell be moved. either way, he will get paid if he has the solid season hes capable of having.

the only caveat is the dreaded quinn bin or the chateau bow wow de la quinn.

lets hope tony's intentions are good all season lol

Is there a deadline on offer sheets? I kind of had it in my head that that was Tony's play with this. He's the right level of player for one of those second round or third round compensations, and unless we have an escape hatch for Namestnikov or Strome we would have had trouble matching. But I guess you don't break the gentleman's pact for Tony DeAngelo.

Avery was 10x the pest ADA is. And he was a solid player for a while. ADA is a better player overall and being a pest like Avery was isn't really tolerated the same these days.

I think not only is Tony tougher, but he is working in a league with a shortage of his type of player; aka, he's more valuable than ever and now we have two (he and Lem). There was never another Sean Avery, but there were a ton of rough guys during those days. Tony is going to be a wrecking ball, and put up points with those CRISPY passes.

Avery could have been worse, as good, or better than ADA. We'll never know what Avery could have been. Hopefully, ADA doesn't go down a similar road.

This is also true and I think ADA has proper guidance.

Hell, like months/weeks before Avery played with Torts, didn't Torts publicly bash him on TSN air ?!

The odds are now in Tony's favor:

Best team he's ever worked with, a coach who gave a **** about him and brought him along at a give and take pace.

I'm just diggin' that our team looks better today than yesterday. Priority 1.

The "F you" I assume is directed at himself....?
