I think it's pretty even. Ottawa gets the better player, and NYR gets younger while getting a pick + cutting salary. Works out for both imo, win win

How they play will change that probably

I see this favouring the Rangers on the long term. I'm a big fan of Zibanejad and It's going to be fun seeing him play on the Rangers.

It's a fair trade but I think it does slightly favour the Rangers.

I was excited to watch Zib this year, but the main problem with the guy is he shows up to camp overweight and not ready to play every single year. Thus he starts off slow and looks terrible, and eventually gets better as the season goes by.

I was really hoping this year was going to be different and he's ready to put the work in, but my fan theory is that the Sens sneaked into his room in the middle of the night and secretly weighed him, and decided it was time to let go.

My very first reaction when I saw the alert was Rangers win this one.

Didn't realize Brassard had the numbers he did last year, but Zibanejad was not far behind either.

I think it's the 2nd round pick OTT is giving up that kind of swayed me towards that thought.

I don't understand this move from the Sens' POV though.

They're nowhere near contending.

Really bad for Ottawa.

Zib is only slightly behind Brassard at the moment. I can see him being the better player by the middle of the next season.

Then there's the 2nd round pick......

****ing **** mother****er is the initial reaction to this trade as a Sens fan.

Is Zibby fat again? I believe he has a higher ceiling than Brassard, who is a 28 year old from the Ottawa Hull area (#localguy #SensNepotismforLocalGuyUnderBryanMurrayContinuesUnderPierreDorion).

******** *****!

PS: Brassard is a solid 2nd liner, Zibby has the potential to be a lot more than what we have seen in the Sens jersey. Something tells me that he failed his "physical" with Boucher's cronies going around meeting players to evaluate their physical fitness level in the off-season. A pure speculation out of my ass.

should be interesting when Zibanejad(i still struggle with that name) re-signs in the next year here.

Looks like the expensive part of Brassard's contract has already been paid.

Zibby can look awesome when he's on. But he's off more often than not. He'll be dynamite for 10 games, then vanish completely for 20.

Seems like he's better suited for the wing, big and strong but plays a soft north and south game. Pageau had pretty much taken his spot by the end of last season, with Turris injured no less. NEver found chemistry with any of Ottawa's wingers and they have some good ones.

The latter might be the main reason for the trade.

Surprised that Ottawa added a 2nd, which we know is solid platinum bitcoins on HF. I don't look as this trade as win/loss for either team, even though I do think Ottawa gave up a bit much. Ottawa is a bit better now, which seems to be their desire, while Rangers get a player that is cheaper and still cost controlled. All in all I think this is a mutually beneficial trade for both organization.

Brassard's real money is similar to phaneuf in that it's higher than his cap hit.

Guess they're going for it?

Yup.. zibby is a frustrating player.. don't like it at all for the rangers

This is interesting. There are some fans on both sides saying their team got fleeced, and some fans on both sides saying they made out like bandits... Maybe that's indicative of a fair deal? I still think NYR wins the trade though, especially with the pick

Brassard has a very cheap contract for the kind of player he is and we just paid out the rest of his signing bonuses.

Probably had something to do with it.
