So wait Rangers got the younger play (by 5 years), who only put up slightly worse numbers last season, and also got a 2nd? That is a win for them.

Brassgod is money in the playoffs. He'll be missed, a lot.

But we get back a younger player who isn't far off so hard to be too upset.

My first thought was yes. Just saw that Zibby had 51 points last year. Still not happy at all. Brassard was my 2nd favorite player on the Rangers.

Mika has spurts of unstoppable plays, and then pure invisible. I'm hoping Brassard is going to be slightly more noticeable for Ottawa than Mika was. But it is a pretty lateral move IMO, not a fan of the draft pick swap though.

Yeah I didn't realize Zibanejad put up 51 last season, that changes my opinion a bit but I'm a huge Brassard fan and like it for Ottawa still.

We got a better player now, but lost a younger player.

I like this because this is a legitimate move for a playoff/stanley cup push.

Rangers get a player that is 5 years younger, bigger, cheaper, and already on par offensively and get the much better pick! Zibanejad's next deal should be around $5-5.5M also (about the same). Why did the Sens agree to this?

Obviously a pretty fair deal if almost every reply on here has been completely different haha

Brass is a much better hockey player than Zibby. Zibby has potential though. Looks fair value wise to me.

Ottawa upgrades a bit at Center and Rangers clear salary... Solid deal from both sides.

Given age and production, this should have been a straight swap or Ottawa adding a 4th at most

Melknyks cheap arse desperate to acquire Brassard in a virtual talent swap but Brassards contract was front loaded and mostly paid off now

This was an accounting trade for a penny pinching owner

I wonder with Brassards salary coming in for Ottawa what this potentially means for Hoffman if they will pay him a high number or try to deal him?

Because they weren't really high on paying him a huge number because of internal salary but will be a good watch in the following week or so.
