Brassard is going to be 29 by the time the season starts. The Rangers just got 6 years younger and got a pick too. This is the type of move they need to be making...get the team younger, start building an under 25 core, and add picks to re-stock a pretty pathetic prospect pool.
Not sure what to think of this, Brassard is the better, more consistant player. Zibby is much younger with potential, but vanishes for large stretches of games. Including the playoffs.
Not sold on Zibanejad's upside. I think what you see is what you get with him. A solid glue kind of guy that can play anywhere in the top 9. Great speed and hard nosed, but not particularly talented at anything. Very versatile, though.
Awful for the sens. Zibanejad is cheaper and 5 years younger, and already scores at a higher rate than Brassard. This trade makes no sense at all. Rangers win hands down.
This is such a budget team hockey trade, it sickens me as a Sens fan.
In one single trade, the Sens got older, have fewer assets and now have less cap space (BUT HES ONLY GOING TO MAKE 3.5 MILLION AFTER THIS UPCOMING SEASON!!!).
Yeah, but to what end with the cap clearing? They now have five good young forwards they need to pay this summer and next. Maybe this move gives them the flexibility to keep them all, but Brassard was a great player for them and on a very competitive deal.
Ya I think I can fairly safely say this is a win for the Rangers. I'm not entirely sure how this makes any sense for Ottawa.
I don't think Zibanejad is a significantly better player (or even better at all frankly) I just don't see why the Sens felt the need to make the trade.
