Sounds like we may have another Pageau on our hands but with more talent. Going to be a very easy team to cheer for if that's the case

I think this trade will help the NYR in the long run, whereas for Ottawa, it's a little more of a gamble.

I don't know if the 2nd round pick was necessary but this may have been related (upped) by the Rags paying the signing bonus. (Who really knows?)

Ultimately, if there is a winner in this trade, it won't be a big one, just as it won't be a big loss for the other team. Zibanejad and Brassard seem like they'll have similar careers in the long run. Zibanejad will do well in NYR. He can be frustrating at times but I expect that that decreases with age and experience. Good luck to him in NYR! I think he'll excel there.

I don't mind the deal but the fact that we had to throw in a 2nd round pick really pisses me off.

I get that we waited for the 2 mil bonus to be paid out and that the 2nd round pick quite likely was compensation for the bonus money. But ffs team's shouldn't have to deal with this internal budget garbage. This owner is a real piece of work...

DJ Z-Bad will have far more clubs to ply his trade in NYC. Wish him the best both on and off the ice

Are you still mad that we had to throw in a 2nd round pick in the Turris - Rundblad trade? Everybody here was mad about that too.

I will miss Brassard and always thought he was somewhat underrated. I do like the fact we are getting a right handed forward back as the Rangers have very few right handed shots on the team

That's funny because the Sens had the opposite problem, where we had too many right handers, and need a left hander.

Could it be possible... GASP .. that this could be a win-win trade?!?! hfboards told me that such a thing wasn't real.

It's almost as if GMs talk to each other about their needs and make trades based off of those discussions

Completely different trade and not even remotely similar. If the 2nd was to make up a valuation gap between the two GM's then that's different. If the 2nd was as compensation for the bonus payment made by the Rangers that's an entirely different story and makes me angry.

Remember, talks started on this trade on April 10th. The sens waited until the bonus payment was made to pull the trigger. That 2nd round pick was imo compensation for that.

fwiw Dorion said the 2nd was added due to Brassard being a better player now.

Sucks to see Zibby go but i definitely like the fact we got brassard, ive heard he's one hell of a player. I think the reason behind trading zibby and getting brassard is because we have alot of young center depth coming up in the pipeline with Brown and White.

Stoked for this season!!

Love it how senator fans tried to defend their lineup with arguments like "youth" and "potential". When they lose their one promising asset up front, he suddenly sucks.

Ottawas getting worse and worse and worse. Save yourself, Erik!

What most Sens fans are saying is that Zibby is a frustrating player because he runs hot and cold. When he ran hot, we got a glimpse into the player he COULD be.

So they go and get a short term upgrade and they get worse? :rolly:

Nobody is saying Zibanejad sucks.

Actually the fun part is how terrible all of our players are UNTIL they get traded, at which point we have been hosed and fleeced and given up a sure-fire top ten player.

Nobody is saying Z sucked. Most fans liked him and were constantly teased by his sporadic amazing play. The guy has all the tools and could put it all together, but for whatever reason has not done so consistently.

You also appear to be implying that EK is a passable player, so this is now "HF confusing".
