Zibanejad has no hockey sense, all the tools with no toolbox. This works for the Sens.

Stepan is not a better player than Brassard. LMFAO. Not only that he has become very brittle and his skating sucks. In fact now NONE OF OUR CENTERS CAN SKATE! We just lost speed where it counts. So please just stop. It's already a sore day as it is.

Stepan is a lot better than Brassard.

The only way Ottawa can justify this trade is if they couldn't protect Zibanejad in expansion. This is Glen Sather-style robbery.

It's justified with the money aspect. Like it our not, this was purely a money move by a cheap owner.

Couldn't have a hockey aspect to it. You had Turris, Pageau, Zibanejad and Lazar as RH for draws while Smith being the lone LH. Then there's adding Brassard to a struggling PP, he is certainly an upgrade over Zibanejad in that aspect. Not to mention the flexibility that adding another LH shot to the power play gives you. Listen I like Zibanejad, there's a lot to like but I do feel like Brassard is a better fit and there's more to it than money. I can't think of one player that Zibanejad showed chemistry with during his time in Ottawa.

Then again the average hockey fan doesn't really consider anything other than ability and potential.

Brassard is pretty good, at least it seems that way when he plays the Penguins. Zibanejad seems to have talent, I don't know if I see a high ceiling there though. Interesting trade.

How'd he manage 51 points?

Turris got hurt he got to ride shot gun on the first pp and play with Hoffman and Ryan all season.

He is a good player but there has been some serious red flags and it has nothing to do with talent. He has all the physical tools but just cant seem to put it together. Coming into camp out of shape two years in a row really rubbed me the wrong way. Its especially frustrating when you see what he can be capable of. I really think this trade is going to go one of two ways for Zibanejad, he will realize his potential and start being a true professional. Or with the pressure of being traded for a fan favorite in a big market he could succumb to the pressure. I hope he starts taking it more seriously because what a waste of talent. He should be where Scheifele is maybe better but he has fallen way behind.

Zibanajad is probably so relieved that he doesn't have Ryan slowing him down anymore.

I don't think Sens lost this. Zibs, IMO, doesn't have the motor to reach his ceiling. Plus they have Colin White and Logan Brown in the pipeline at C. Better to grab a veteran and compete now while Karlsson is in his prime.

Brassard setting up Hoffman will be plentiful

Sorry but I believe Ottawa got the better overall player as of right now but Zibby may turn things up a notch playing in the big lights of New York. Time will tell

He's 23 years old, most players don't break out until they're 25-27. I'm sure as hell he'll be motivated by a change to NY. I think this trade is going to be horrible for the Sens after a few years.

Sure he is. And Ryan's probably happy that he doesn't have to play with a guy who's only effective 30% of the time. Give and take - they're probably both happy. Happy, happy, happy!
