God what a shitshow. Davidson coming back was the best thing ever. He literally built the Blues into a powerhouse and did a damn good job in Columbus too.

We can disagree with Gorton sometimes, but his drafting has been really solid (- Andersson).

I’m in shock. Total and utter disbelief at this...

PS f*** Dolan

I always find the president is just a figure head really, a voice for the owner in some franchises. If him and Dolan were in a disagreement about where they were at then thats a problem that just got solved.

There's a part of me that looks at everything and puts together this story:

- Jeff Gorton came in around the 2016 season and fairly quickly started tearing things down.
- Over the course of a few years, Stepan and Brassard were traded, Girardi and Lundqvist were bought out, Staal was sent away. Basically the entire leadership core of the last cup contender is gone.
- "The letter" was sent out.
- With the turnover, Gorton made a number of astute hockey moves at the cost of culture.
- There were a number of stop and starts/incidents with prospects and young players, including Andersson, Kravtsov, and DeAngelo.
- David Quinn, a developmental coach, has the support of Gorton and JD despite getting inconsistent effort and development from the team.
- The Wilson incident happens, and Gorton pushes back because it limits his ability to make hockey moves and operate in the league.
- Dolan looks at all this and concludes that while Gorton is a smart hockey mind and has succeeded in building a very talented collection of pieces, he is not equipped to make the sometimes "sub-optimal" moves that will help turn the collection of talented players into a winning team with a winning culture.

Then I remember we're talking about Dolan and wonder what I've been drinking.

My father was in the music business and knows Dolan. They were all set to represent Dolan's son's band until Dolan attended a meeting, made a series of incredibly stupid and unplausible suggestions, and decided my father and his partner were not suited for the job after refusing to carry out his idiocy.

Though it did mean that my father became known as an"associate" of dolan which enabled him to get me Rangers tix when I was in town.

The true problem will get solved after Dolan sells the team. Hope Dolan doesn't try and get me banned from HFNYR for this post.

I'm just happy theres an adult who has run a hockey team before in the room. I was dreading what Drury and and unhinged Dolan and maybe Messier were about to do to this roster.

f*** that statement though. I think we're all sick of missing the playoffs and want to compete, but arent most rangers fans overall happy with the progression of the youth and the rebuild?

You can simultaneously be happy with the progression of the young players and unhappy with the way the team is performing.

Hire Mess as coach. If HF is against it, it must be the right move. Mess knows the Rangers were built to be gutless from the top down. Well guess what? Drury wasn’t a pansy and neither is Messier. Can’t build a pond hockey team to compete for a Cup. Some don’t want to wake up and see it.

Hiring Messier who has zero coaching experience and alienated half the locker room during his second stint in NY would most likely be a catastrophic failure.

Sure. Fire the coach.

This isnt about the performance. Maybe its about "where are my playoff ticket sales" but anyone who looked at the divisions this season knew the playoffs were a long shot. This team has easily met or exceeded expectations and are on schedule.

If somehow Dolan does not meddle with Drury and he is left to run it then this can be okay....

Let me give as frank of an observation about Dolan as I can. Hopefully it doesn't get taken down.

James Dolan is basically alive today because he was born into money.

Between the drugs, and the booze and misconduct over the years, if he was born into a middle class family, he literally would be just another addict who dies alone in a studio apartment in a run down part of town.

He literally woke up on third base thinking he hit a triple...before forgetting all about baseball and injecting some form of drug into his body, going into a rage and throwing third base into the stands.

That is Jim Dolan.

Well say goodbye to most of our blue chip prospects and young players. Guessing Laf stays and the rest (KK, Kravtsov, Nils) are all shipped off in bad value, win-now, toughness type trades.
