That's a lot of cheddar. Great Dman though and by today's standards I guess it's what to expect. Man these players today sure get paid.

A lot of people showing their ass in this thread as stat watchers commenting on players they’re completely unfamiliar with. It could be argued that Fox’s defensive game is actually better than his offensive game (although his offensive game just keeps getting better). People just see he’s an “undersized” D who puts up points and then speak through their rectums.
They aren’t watching stats. If they were, Fox is a stats god and they wouldn’t have these absurd takes.

So, they essentially tied up 44 million in 5 players? Ouch; Panarin for 11.64, Kreider for 6.5, Zibs for 8.5, Trouba for 8 and Fox for 9.5?

Yeah how could there possibly be people disagreeing your take after comments like this.

I'd understand if it's one of the smartest in the last 20+ years, but definitely Fox is the smartest? Nahhhhh.

It's my opinion, not a f***ing hot take. I didn't say he was the absolute smartest, I said he's the smartest I have seen. Being that you can't read, nor understand the nuance of that, why would I care what you think?

UFA vs. RFA. Not sure why this needs to explained to hockey fans with any semblance of hockey knowledge.

The comparisons are Makar and Werenski. This is a fair if not good deal for Fox.

Seriously man? Congrats on the insight!

You missed the point entirely. Also I don’t consider werenski to be makar or fox tier tbh.

This is great for the Rangers, but RIP their 2022-2023 season. Unless they move Trouba, they are going to be way too top heavy and are putting too many eggs in their young guys' baskets. They'll need Laf, Kakko, and Chytil to all be top-6 caliber, Miller to be top-4, and then somehow add a #2/3C and 4 other forwards + backup for 10M.

Lots of risk!

No, you're missing the point. Fox's contract has nothing to do with Nurse so why even bother bringing it up? Nurse wasn't even the worst UFA Dman contract handed out.

I never said that Werenski and Makar are Fox tier, I'm saying that those are the comparables. It's just common sense if you know anything about how free agent contracts work.

Here's the thing, though. If you're not going to pay the reigning Norris winner who is looking like he'll contend for the trophy yet again this year, who are you going to pay? Not sure anyone is really worth a contract if that's not a guy you open the checkbook for.
Like I said, I get it because it's the norm but I can't help thinking it could be a flash in the pan sort of speak
Not so long ago those contract were giving after a few years and yeah too often to guys who were on the downfall
Look I'm not saying it's a bad contract, it could very be a great one, I was just saying I was never a fan of those giving to guys base on potential. I also said I prefer giving this to a 23 years old then to a 29 who won the Norris and regret it 3 years after
