Fox is absolutely worth 10M+. What’s disappointing though is that many expected Fox to take a significant discount. Where else was he going to play? This is his childhood team, and they have cap problems.

This deal only makes the cap problems worse. That means that the next guys to get big deals are going to have to take discounts, otherwise they won’t be able to stay. It would’ve been nice to set a culture of players taking less, but I guess when Shestyorkin and Fox see Panarin, Trouba, and Kreider get huge deals that they aren’t going to accept a discount.

Lol I remember when I was arguing with a Rangers fan who was insisting Fox would take a discount because "he loves the Rangers so much". Turns out he didn't

This is a perfectly fair contract but the Rangers are going to be in an awful cap situation in the near future.
When players like Darnell Nurse signed for near that? He did take a bit of a discount

I remember a game in Washington where the Rangers had Fox glued to Ovechkin every chance they got.

During their shared shifts, the Rangers had 86% of the expected goals.

On one random shift in the third period, Ovechkin knocked Fox over, prompting an HF denizen to rant and rave about how Fox couldn't handle the tough roles.

That pretty much sums up his career.

42M on Panarin/Fox/Zibanejad/Kreider/Shesterkin is not that bad...safe to say bye to Trouba's 8M.

Lol they're not going to be able to move Trouba. He has a full NMC and I can't see any way he'd waive it.

The Rangers are going to be boned with the cap unless it rises a lot.

Good luck getting a Norris trophy winner who has the vast majority of his best years ahead of him and STILL hasn't hit his peak for under $11 mil in the open market. Prices go up over time, not down. And good luck drafting a player of Fox's caliber. 9.5 for a young Norris winner who will be in his prime the entire duration of the contract is a very good deal. It also shows Fox loves playing in NY and didn't want to get too greedy, which opens up more room to improve the team. Anyone saying this contract is not a great deal for the Rangers is probably yelling at the clouds and reminiscing about when hot dogs cost a nickel.

The issue is that they need cap space next year, not when his partial NMC is in place in 2024-2025.

They have 10 million in cap space with only 7 forwards signed.

It really comes down to whether or not they want to keep Strome and how much $ he wants. Kakko hasn't broken out, so I'm not seeing a big raise there. Blais will get a pay bump and so will Rooney but it won't be unmanageable. Gauthier is a trade sweetener at this point - so is Hajek. Strome is the real question mark.

He did, and you lost the argument. Better luck next time!

No details yet, but news just broke that the Rangers signed Adam Fox to a 7 year extension.

There are alot of idiot GMs in this league giving all this jack to kids that only have one or two good years on their resume. We are going to have a lock out without question and the idiot GMs are the ones to blame.

Is the league in a better place with the GMs giving all that jack to 29 year olds with 5 or 6 good seasons, but with the near certainty that the next 5 or 6 aren't going to be as good? I'd take my chances with the former.
