Wow. That's big money. I'm glad that Nylander is staying, and it should be manageable with a rising cap and the ELC depth we've accumulated, but that's quite a surprising number. Easily the worst of any of the homegrown core signings.

Seems like Treliving got a little blinded by Nylander's half-season pace... Let's hope Nylander keeps it up.

Why? The Leafs will still be paying out the exact same amount (give or take a few bucks) in player salaries next year.

The players on LTIR are the ones who aren't included in the cap, and are therefore more likely to affect ticket prices.

I asked the same and they never replied. Probably occurred to them after that it was a silly comment to make.

You have 3rd line plugs in the league with full NMC’s. everyone in the NHL gets an NMC now. They need to copy the NBA where only 2 players in the entire league have a NTC. Everyone else can be moved at any time

It’s an overpay by about a million. If Nylander continues being top 5 in points then I can swallow the overpay. However, if we see lackadaisical, nonchalant Nylander of a few years ago, we’re screwed. I cling to the hope he’s matured and continues to play like has the past few years. One thing we can’t forget is that he’s one of the shows up every playoffs.
