Everyone said we couldn't win with 3 guys over 10mm. Maybe 4 is goodNext year he joins the double digit$ club.
He's still a lowly paid Tier 2 guy until after the playoffs end.

If Kessel can break through and do it I don't see why our 3 guys can't.Did you guys not learn anything from Hyman?
You're going to take a big L if you try to fill in the space with multiple pieces.
You have two options. 1.) Cry over Nylander's cap hit 2.) Cry over the multiple failed attempts to find new talent to replace him
Choose #1. Cry away.
If you look at the ages of the 3 headed monster, it's unrealistic that they will never go on the Crosby/Malkin type point tear to win the Cup. It's most likely soon.
Willy was drafted as a C, played C in juniors and the minors and with the Swedish team. He was pegged as our future 2C before the JT signing. As much as I LOVE Willy; JT off the books means we will need a 2C how are we gonna afford that and quality depth and defense ???
Marner is already thinking 15 AAV
Full NMC every year with 69 million in signing bonuses or some shitDoes it have NTC or NMC?
Well he better pick it up… lol. I like Mitch but he is falling out of favour with the crowd. William committed to 8 years which is great. For some reason I don’t even care he is a little overpaid. Maybe it’s the way Styles smiles. Can't wait for Marner to get 13m![]()
Hopefully keefe gets a HUGE multi year extension soon!!We have no choice now.we have to run it back again and again and again and again……..
Ya Tre going to look really stupid if Nylander slumps hard the second half of the season. To match this contract teams would need to offer 13.14x7 which I don't think would happenIf we were gonna give him max term, money, bonuses, and trade clauses, why didn’t we wait till after the playoffs. He wasn’t gonna get more than this unless we won the cup and he won conn smythe, and then at that point I’d pay whatever he wanted.
This wasn’t a negotiation, this was Nylander’s agent asking for something and us saying sure, then him asking for another thing and then saying sure again and again.
92 million capThe Cap was $80 mil for the 2019/20 season. The big four had a cap hit of $42.12 mil.. or 52% of the cap.
If Marner gets $12 mil, the three combine for a cap hit of $36.75 mil. For 2025/26, the cap is expected to go to $92 million. The same 52% would be $47.84 million... suggesting if Tavares comes in under $11.09 million, we will have allocated LESS to the big four, than we did when everyone received their last contracts. So if we get Marner at $12 mil, and Tavares at $5-7 mil, we will be well below where we were last contract round with these guys.
Gotta factor in quality.
You can play Minten as 2C but that doesn’t make it a good idea
I will look it up in the evening and post it
I’m at work and I’m not going through cap friendly right now. But I’d venture to say more than half the leagues 2C is at 6 mill or under.
I'm responding to this... provided you the link.I do t think so. Am at work too; will look it up and post it.
The salary cap was 81.5m in 2019-2020, and the big four took up 40.5m. 49.7%.The Cap was $80 mil for the 2019/20 season. The big four had a cap hit of $42.12 mil.. or 52% of the cap.
True, basically just swapping JT and Nylanders AAV. However the issue I see is I would expect to get better performance from the big 4 over that previous contract period compared to the future one due to age. Especially with JT who could fall off a cliff and guys like Nylander who will be mid 30s for quite a few of those new contract years. The Cap was $80 mil for the 2019/20 season. I'm not even sure what you are going on about here.

More than half of the leagues 2C's, by pay... are at $6 mil or under... that's just a fact. Only 33rd to 42 are above $6 mil.
As far as quality... Tavares is 21st in points, and Domi is 48th, which is extremely good value for his $3 mil.
Tavares at $6 mil for four years, should be extremely good value for us.
The AAV is still hard to swallow but this is a little bit of different perspective kind of helps.
As long as they can sign bridge deals with Woll and Knies when they become RFAs, I don't think the Leafs will have overly significant cap challenges in the next couple of seasons. But it will probably mean a bare bones approach to goaltending cap allocation.Wow. That's big money. I'm glad that Nylander is staying, and it should be manageable with a rising cap and the ELC depth we've accumulated, but that's quite a surprising number. Easily the worst of any of the homegrown core signings.
Seems like Treliving got a little blinded by Nylander's half-season pace... Let's hope Nylander keeps it up.
The AAV isnt terrible. The AAV for that term is terrible.

It also solves the problem of people whining about 'two 12M wingers'. (Yes someone here said that!)
