Just finished watching it

What a great goal! Filthy Billy is the King.

There was a lot of sketchy play, still a little too much puck watching in their own end, still too many passes in the attacking zone some of the time.

Morgan has been great so far, I know it's early but he may be having his best year as a Leaf. His skating is poetry and he's seeing the ice with elite vision. Now if only the Leafs can find him a more dependable partner than Brodie.

It's crazy that when you only have 2 everyday NHL defenseman playing, you end up losing more than you win.

This season has been, if at all possible, more unfair to Gio than last season.
He's been tasked with carrying such a load....



As an aside, something has to be done about the officiating.
It's bonkers out there.

The first penalty for each team was a complete phantom.
And then later in the game, much more egregious versions of those 2 same penalties went uncalled.

It's hard to take this league seriously with this garbage going on out there.

The inconsistency wears me right out. The NHL should be ashamed, but they aren't which means only one thing.

Some call it game management, the bookies and betting sites might call it something else.

The NHL made a gesture with a ridiculous suspension of Shane Pinto, but did nothing when the Gretzkys and Rick Tocchet got caught up with the Philly mob.

Even when you go back to the 2018-2021 seasons when Marner's statistical production started to leave Nylander in the dust, I always maintained the production seemed to come relatively efficiently for Marner whereas Nylander would show all these flashes (of what he does now) and do all these athletically brilliant things but the numbers were so flat.

I don't know if you can make sweeping generalizations that a lot of Swedes peak later in their careers (check the longevity of a Sundin, Lidstrom, the late breakout of the Sedin twins, Alfredsson, Zetterberg becoming an impact player in his mid to late 20s) but I'd say lock up Willie and never regret it.

I dunno, but it feels like Matthews shot has regressed. I remember when he was first drafted, the absolutely stunning toe drag sniper dots for goals. He still has elite scoring, just feels like the shot isn't the same level danger as it used to be.
