Keefe has put ROR on the first PP unit, mainly to have someone who can win faceoffs, as far as I can tell.

Which is good, but Willy is not the player who should have been dropped.

On the other hand, he's made the second unit almost as effective as the first.

6 shots tonight, tied with Mitch and Matty for the most. Mitch and Matty took about 27 minutes to do that, while Willy took 17.

There are a full team of players playing like donkey snot., yet here we are defending or blaming this guy. He must be the most important player on the team...

That said i would like to find the snake that bit him, roast him and forcefeed Tkchuck.

When i saw that he was playing with Tavares. I went to sleep. Woke up in the last minutes of the third. Did they change his line?

Got a feeling he gets drained of energy playing with Tavares. Ror should play with Nylander and Knies if he is ok.
Tavares, if he cant must being a third line player, can play with Matthews and Marner. If three 11mill players cant get it done noone can... Ive heard Tavares never quit and always give his all, and that that is the difference between him and Nylander.

can someone genuinely tell me why nylander can’t play the first powerplay instead of Tavares. Aside from face offs and the bumper position arguably which we haven’t even used that well lately idk what tavares brings that nylander doesn’t. let the first unit stay out for 90 seconds

Nylander was the only forward creating dangerous chances in game 2 while we were down. Matthews Marner and JT all looked like passengers out there tonight. Willy's been playing real good this series but has been snake bitten. Also the second Florida goal was equally on him and McCabe for putting him in a bad spot to begin with.

Because then you get a Tavares who isn’t even a 2C, you get a 3C who puts up 40 points and can’t play defensively

Seriously, it leaves Tavares in no mans land. He can’t play top pp means he’s only getting 30 secs of pp, where he is just gonna stand infront of the net. Moreover, he now doesn’t warrant playing in the top 6 because he’s so ineffective that his point totals look like he should be on the third line. Now the problem is he’s playing with acciari and like kerfoot and he won’t put up over 40 points making 11m

ROR should be replacing JT on PP1, but you take away those PP cookies, you're not left with a lot of game situations where he's that impactful.

Willy and JT don't work well together, so Keefe splits Willy and JT for a while, and it works, so he puts them back together.

I agree that JT "always gives his all", but unfortunately that's not much these days.

JT wants to go slow and grind down low while Willie wants to fly in open ice or circle. Either one does their thing it isolates the other: either JT gets left in the dust and opens up spacing issues or Nylander loses his primary weapon, speed. They're never in sync and that's why they get ripped apart defensively so often.

ultimately second goal was def on sammy. that's an easy save.

2 posts, another 3 or so grade A chances stopped, set up JT for a breakaway and a tap in that he missed on both.

On a different night where he plays exactly the same, generates the same chance, makes the same mistakes, we could be talking about a monster performance leading the Leafs to victory.

Of course we live in reality and that's not what happened. Scoring is hard and sometimes you do everything right and it won't go in. You gift wrap teams goals with turnovers and softies and you're going to have a hard time winning.

Unfortunately it's a long running theme for this team as a whole and for Willy specifically. It doesn't matter how well you play if you make a bunch of dumb mistakes that end up in the back of your net.

So much hate for a player that is faaaaar from the sole reason we lost.

Keefe on the other hand can insert his gameplan in a orifice of his choice on himself and then contenplate his carrer choice. The players need to play better , but hell, the coach are supposed to make things easier not way harder.

Why a fourth line at all when trailing in the third. Why why why a Tavares/Nylander combo. Why not Nylander on pp1 when hot(or any other hot player 4 the day) . How hard can it be.

It might not work anyway. But we will never know because he tries the same thing over and over.

At this point you have to bench marner on the PP1.

Rielly isn't a shot threat, Marner isn't a shot threat, Tavares isn't a shot threat.

as the game went on nylander increasingly became the only hope for tying the game
