Confirmed with Link: [NYI/TOR] Pierre Engvall for 2024 3rd round pick

A third round pick in NEXT years draft that can easily be recouped if next year turns out to be shit? What's the downside?

I'm really of the opinion that we shouldn't be "going for it" anyway. We're a mediocre at best team and will likely get our heads handed to us by the Bruins in the 1st round if we make it that far.

Lou has ZERO thought about the future of this franchise. All he is trying to do is win another cup, and sadly all he's managed to do is build a bubble team.

I want the Lou experiment to end. We need a GM who cares about the present & the future of the team. Lou just isn't that guy.
Welcome to North American sports in the 21st century. If coaches/GMs/execs don't perform in the present, they lose their jobs. No GM in any sport is going to sacrifice the present to bolster the future when both their job and the ownership's dollars are at stake.

I don't really see one. Could have used him for tonight's game. Also sounds like Lou is ready to take their relationship to the next level.

I thought I read he is over 50% on FO and good defensively and good on the forecheck.
He's the type of player that analytics and stats will tell you one thing about and the eye test will tell you the complete opposite.

If he's your 3rd line center for the season your team likely isn't overly competitive. If he's your 3rd or 4th line LW you're probably a good team.

It's like a mantra at this point.
Makes sense to throw in the towel every year if you aren't the best team on opening night. How else are you going to accrue high quality draft picks? For the life of me i can't figure out why the Isles even played the first 50 games. It was obvious they weren't going to win the cup after their preseason performance.

Lou won't trade assets for futures. and our future is bleak as hell.
I'll shed a tear for your great grandchildren Madame Cleo.

I hope we are not helping the Leafs win a cup by taking this guy off their hands

I'm sure we'll do what we do with every new aqcuisition; stick him next to Barzal for 5 games to see if we can finally find some chemistry with the bum.
This will make you hate Engvall. Often times plays die on his stick. He goes through spurts though that will make you think he can be a goal scorer too.

He's not a bad player. Just frustrating. That's why so many people in Toronto are happy to see him move on.

Islander fans will just hate Barzal for it, lol.

When he heard he was traded to the island

Isles fan here living in Toronto. Leafs fans happy he's gone. They say for his size he plays very soft and has no hands. No room for him after they loaded up for playoffs.

Gimme domi too..’23 2nd and salo
