I totally agree. That's what the Rangers decided to do and now they wil land a great player with the number 2 pick overall and they have several high draft picks.
This team will be stuck in mediocrity because they aren't committed to anything. Limbo is the word.
Snow's mess is going to take more than a year to get straightened out. Maybe you should root for another team if you want us to be the Rangers. Hey, they are right around the corner!

Yes!!! We were 1 point off form winning the division and lead the league in GA. Also, won a playoff series. But yes let’s trade off everyone for picks and hope to get lucky and win the lottery. This is such a losers mentality. Also, the rangers committed to a rebuild with no prospects in their system. The isles are in different boat. We already have young talent and really good prospects. We don’t need to rebuild and try and hope for a ping pong ball bounce to land a certain player.

lol not being able to understand how RFA vs UFA contracts work. I kind of understand as you guys like paying RFA's as if they had UFA leverage.
oh its exactly how it works, friend

Get back to me at the end of next year after his 80 point season :)
Next year has no bearing on saying Nelson's contract is bad, when Nylander as a RFA is getting 1M per goal on the contract he signed on December 1. Which actually is over 10.1M this season on the cap. Maybe you should pick your recent examples better. There was no worse contract than Nylander's this year so you citing it as being great in comparison to Nelson's is DUBIUS at best.

The sooner Trotz is gone, the sooner Nelson can actually put up some points and make that contract look somewhat worth a while. I'm surprised Lou gave out that much to Nelson considering he won't average 50 points a season playing Trotz style hockey.

Brock Nelson put up 25 goals, 53 pts as a #1C or 2C on the stingiest goals against team last year. His defensive metrics were off the charts last season in his first season under Trotz.

He was 11th in 5v5 GA60 metric at 1.64 with a min of 800 TOI played in the entire NHL. There was no top 6 Center better.

Player Season Totals - Natural Stat Trick

Sure there may be more Centers who had more points than him last year, but the net sum as a Top 2 Center not many. And this is what wins and loses games. Being a net positive 5 v 5.

Brock just hit his career high at age 27 playing under Trotz. I highly doubt his scoring input gets much higher.

They pay him per goal?

And Nelson was awful when the team needed him the most.

He was fine for 82 games in a 103 pts season. First rd against the Pens in a sweep. Give you a hint, he played head to head against Sid or Malkin. Did fine. The first 2 games in the Carolina series. Sure he did not come through in games 3 and 4. But if this is your true standard. You must have a long list of names to get to if you are going to play that game.

Nylander had 27 points, 7 goals in 54 games, is 6feet, a winger, and makes 10,277,778 .

Nelson is a center, had 25 goals in a full season, is bigger, and makes 6 million.

Pick your battles

While true (last season), at the start of this season (virtually) Nelson will be 28 and have only topped 45 points once whereas Nylander will have topped 60 twice by the age of 21 (something Nelson has never done).

Not sure why you are talking about Nylander in a Nelson thread? This is a pattern with you of late. But When Nylander can prove he can play Center, and on a #1GA team, and prove he can take a hit to make a play. Then for 7M not riding Matthews coat tails, prove he can score 61 pts in a season, or average more than his current 18 goal pace per 82 games. Wow that is some eliteness for 10.3 last year, and 7M per the remaining years of his hold out contract. I think you are confused, This isn't David Pastrnak we are talking about here, who even makes less.

If he scores 20 goals next year, will he get 20 million dollars?

And the NYI had 5 of the top 11 players in that category. That shows it had little to do with Nelson and a lot to do with Trotz system.

Or also that Nelson was 5th on his own team in that stat.

Any stat with Heinen and Kuraly as the top guys, need to be taken with a grain of salt.
