MORE POSTING WITHOUT KNOWING THE CONTEXT! YAY!

Remember last time he has a contract year? Of course you don't. But Isles fans do.
You think it’s a fair contract, I think it’s a bad contract.

There’s no need to get so worked up.

Typical NYI related thread

*NYI do something*
Other fans: I don't care what they did, I know it's bad hahahaha
*NYI fans try to reasonably educate other fans*
Other fans: blah blah blah nananana I can't hear you, TV told me Islanders are bad, they are so going to regress to last place next season

In their defense, you don't have the best history with GMs and contracts..... (Milbury, Snow....).

For the contact, I don't now. Seems rich for a second line center, but if the Isle's fans are happy with it, it really doesn't matter much.

This thread shows how much of a bias some of you have against the NYI.

Must eat away at you that NYI finished with over 100 points this year instead of last place lmao

It's this simple...

garth snow was horrible. Left the Isles a very flawed roster when he was fired a year ago. When Tavares left it was basically Barzal and Nelson in terms of reliable top-6 centers in the entire organization. So if the Isles get Nelson walk they weren't getting Duchene and would've had to pay someone like Hayes more than this to keep from having a GAPING hole after Barzal.

So Lou did what he needed to do - Perhaps not what he wanted to do.

We're all reeling from the wang/snow years and just trying to pick up the pieces. This team (with Trotz behind the bench) is never going to be bad enough to get a top-5 elite/cornerstone prospect, so it's going to have to try to piece together a Cup contender other ways. Despite Nelson being a flawed and sometimes very annoying player, losing a good 2nd line center for nothing and with no replacement in sight would have set the Isles back a lot further than this contract ever could.

Bad deal and the term makes it even worse.

You are getting a guy with 53 points who also had a career high PDO of 104.3 has a career 45.6% faceoff win pct as a high volume faceoff guy with 4 consecutive years of Corsi and Fenwick below 50%

I love the Isles but this is the type of stuff that got them in the massive hole they were in for 30+ years.

So let me get this straight.

It’s fair for HF to make conclusions on players based on they performed under an organization ran by Garth Snow, Doug Weight, and Jack Capuano, and then HF turns right around collectively agrees that the Islanders were a joke of a franchise under Snow, Weight, and Capuano?

That doesn’t make sense.

this post doesnt make any sense. its not like everyone was struggling to score on those teams.

he finished 4th, 5th and then 8th last year on his team in points the 3 seasons before this one and thats while being healthy every season.

thats long term 6 million dollars because he had a 53 point season?

Almost ties Lucic and Louis contract, but those werent that bad when they signed!

It's so bad in Edmonton these days that this is the only thing that can make them feel better...Trying to make fun of other teams' moves to distract themselves from how bad it is, and will be, for a while up there in NeverNeverWannaGoThereLand.

Weren't you just whining about a lack of maturity amongst Leafs fans? Strong stuff here.

Both had 50+ pts. Idk maybe 5.5 million then but that's still 1.5 more than what I would pay him.

You would only pay Danault 4M per (4.8% of an 83M dollar cap)? That’s insultingly low for a 2C.

This will come back to haunt the Isles. Just you wait... you can't pay 6 million to players who have scored at a career average pace of 40 pts a season... especially when they're already 27. Yikes.

Good for him I hope this solidifies c for the isles for a while.

Kevin Hayes is getting fu*king paid this summer though...
