If Matthews is not injured, then he’s been half-assing every game since he’s been back. It looks like her doesn’t give a shit. Berube has to hold him accountable or he’s no better than Keefe. The effect he has on the PP is really disconcerting. When he was off our PP looked really good.

But once again, can we get a goal from the bottom 6? Can we ever win the penalty differential? Can Nylander score on a breakaway? Can Tavares score in the last minute? Can we stop hitting so many posts?

I think when we get Domi and McMann back, we should have the opportunity to ice a dangerous bottom six. Although that's contingent a little on whether Craig wants to keep Minty in the line up. Personally, I think he likely does.

Matthews got 2 points today... i thought when a player gets 2 points they're amazing? It's all about point generation isn't it?

I'm not keen on relying on McMann. Runs a bit too hot and cold for my liking. Scoring two or three goals against Anaheim or San Jose and then disappearing against good teams doesn't do it for me.

As a longtime Tolkien fan: I don't think you're using that phrase the way you meant it. That was a success story and not about repeating past mistakes. Sorry. had to say it.
In the 70's I read a quote, forget who said it but, "luckiest people are those who have not read LOTR."
I know Hobbit and LOTR are two different, although related, stories.

Leafs went from bad to good and back to bad.

All things aside leafs deserved the loss. They didn't play with intensity again (for the 4th game in a row). When the big guns don't score we are easy to beat. Holmberg is a bad hockey player, does absolutely nothing of value. Jarry with the best game he has played in 2 years. We definitely miss McCabe (our best defenseman). We gave too much space on our end. Pitt was making clean unpressured passes all night. We didn't control the boards which has been a strength this year and we didn't attack the point (always a mistake). All recipes for a loss.

Time to trade Matthews ala Trouba !!!

We're a much better team without him. Our other players defer to him when he is playing and wait for him to carry the team.

He simply can't !!! Get rid of him !!!

The team needs to shake off the December cobwebs here, as they look a little dopey and uncommitted over the last few games. Morgan seems to lead the charge with that every Christmas. Hes been downright comatosed for a week or so. And we've seen it all before after November, so getting back on track here would show that the team is in fact, a little different this year.
That's what i thought...

Playing guys like Reaves over and over and over and over again when they do nothing is unacceptable. Get rid of this guy. We have no use for him whatsoever
Is it time to can Berube for continuing to play Reaves?

These type of losses were suppose to be a thing of the past when they fired Keefe.

Apparently, Keefe WAS NOT the PROBLEM !!!

To play devil's advocate imagine the haul you could get. Couple of good players maybe 3 for sure. Leafs are in win now mode so draft picks wouldn't do it.

Yea, the guy who played 7:28 was the problem. lol

If it wasn't Reaves, it was going to be Robertson. If it wasn't Robertson it was going to be Grebenkin. Your focus is on the wrong guys.

I'd say a fourth liner who was even and threw four hits probably did his job. On top of the the 4th line was decent with their forecheck all night.

Seriously, do you know how many jerseys Matty sells? I have two myself.

Weak Berube post game. Sounds like a young rebuilding franchise. I thought he'd be more like Torts...maybe in the room.

Getting way off track here because I really am the self-proclaimed world's biggest Tolkien nerd. If you're interested,, he wrote the Hobbit for his kids which is why it has a more juvenile tone to it. People read it though and convinced him to write the more serious books (which he had already laid the groundwork for before writing the Hobbit).

I see your point but still don't see it as apt. Bilbo left the Shire as a naive aristocratic lay about type (the "here" part) but returned as a hardened champion after helping to slay a dragon and was instrumental in aiding Gandalf in saving all of Middle Earth (the "back again" part). f***, I'm even more of a nerd now after writing that. I almost passed out just proof-reading it.

As a 3rd liner, what more should you expect from someone at his price point than ~15 goals. He certainly should give us more than we are getting from the others. I think something like Domi, Minten, and McMann could be fairly effective.

Now as a 2nd liner, I guess I can agree somewhat.
