Funny thing is, most of you folks think I'm crazy because I've said repeatedly that resigning Matthews at 13+ was way over paid and that the team might be better off moving him for a handful of draft picks and 1st pairing DmanFunny thing is, the problem with our suddenly terrible PK is the same as the problem with our suddenly terrible PP; a guy wearing #34 who is set up to be the centerpiece of this team, but spends way too much time half-assing it.
Yeah. His lack of maturity shines brightest when he is in front of a microphone. The only nhl player to ever refer to himself as a god. Yes Mitch, that’ll definately help your image haha. God I hope he leaves and same with scamaplanMitch is without question one of the worst interviews in the league. Hasn't improved one iota since he started. It's not close to the most important thing but he is just a car wreck with the microphone in front of him.
Pretty much. They've been hemmed in their own zone to start nearly every period and every game in the last week. It doesn't matter who they put out. Not good.Lackadaisical Leafs led by a lazy loafer for leader lose against listless Pittsburgh Penguins
I think Toronto should be more aggressive on the forecheck to start games.
I criticize Mitch a lot and also think his interviews often come across poorly but I hate that he gets bashed for the “we get treated like gods” comments. I know I’ve said multiple times as a Leaf fan that Leaf players get treated like gods. He grew up a Leaf fan. He was repeating something most of us have said at one point describing Leafs and their relationship with fans.Yeah. His lack of maturity shines brightest when he is in front of a microphone. The only nhl player to ever refer to himself as a god. Yes Mitch, that’ll definately help your image haha. God I hope he leaves and same with scamaplan
The Pens are a horrible team with the worst GAA in the entire league. They were clearly getting outplayed 5 on 5 but the Leafs let them hang around with PP chances.Second hardworking opponent (playoff style?) in a row and second game in a row with Matty/Mitch together: second bad or at least mediocre game from both.
He didnt refer to himself as a god. People made that up when he said fans in Toronto treat the players as God's. Still, a poor choice of words in my opinion, but he never claimed to e a god.Yeah. His lack of maturity shines brightest when he is in front of a microphone. The only nhl player to ever refer to himself as a god. Yes Mitch, that’ll definately help your image haha. God I hope he leaves and same with scamaplan
Reeves is incapable of doing what is reqùired of him, or unwilling. There were a number of Pens who needed a tuning last night.Aside from one iffy goal (looked like he didn't see ir) Woll was fine.
Second hardworking opponent (playoff style?) in a row and second game in a row with Matty/Mitch together: second bad or at least mediocre game from both.
JT (except on the dot) and Willy were good, although Knies was really off.
Alex and Reeves were ok third and fourth liners respectively. Alex had flashes of good.
Pens' goalposts played well.
He still doesn't look 100%.3 goals, 2 assists in his 1st four games back, seems like his average point production. Most seem to be overreacting on Mathews.
We really do have one of the worst fan bases across all major sports. The Toronto Cynics are back!
Trading Matthews was mentioned...
Someone here even suggested we fire Berube.
I think we have to see how things shake out when the injured guys are back. Pacioretty, Domi and McMann can all produce offense. If it wasn't apparent already (it was), this team is getting absolutely zero scoring outside the top two lines (the last bottom six goal was by Minten 4 games ago).
Yet another reminder of how ludicrous it is for the Leafs to keep handing out raises to their stars while their forward depth gets worse and worse every year. They've already shown a top-heavy lineup can't get it done, so they doubled down on it.
On the plus side, Treliving has still managed to put together a very solid blue line, but at the cost of forward depth. Brad really needs to spend every waking moment on the phones looking for help from here to the deadline.
We need 2-3 warm bodies at minimum, very cheap and that can produce a goal or two once in awhile. And considering Brad hasn't brought one in already like underscores just how difficult it will be to find & acquire those guys.
Yeah on separate linesI think we have to see how things shake out when the injured guys are back. Pacioretty, Domi and McMann can all produce offense.
At times he does selfish things like the empty net half slapper from their own side of ice the other night.3 goals, 2 assists in his 1st four games back, seems like his average point production. Most seem to be overreacting on Mathews.
It’s what they are. Nothing new.Bottom six has to do more.
When Reaves plays the leafs lose.
Same issues as last year. We need more scoring. If our goalies have an off night we are in trouble.
Berube will continue to harp on being north and south and losing puck possession battle with dump ins doesn’t help matters.
His theory is to punish the defencemen with dump ins but you risk losing puck possession most times then not.
Like yrs with Keefer …if your bottom six don’t score then your special teams need to be lights out every game.
And it’s not like we have great contributions from our D on offence either.
JMHO
Not DomiI think we have to see how things shake out when the injured guys are back. Pacioretty, Domi and McMann can all produce offense.
