It's Mayfield and Romanov that have been tire-fires.

You think so, especially re: Romanov? He's been playing top pairing at 25 minutes a game with all the D injuries and he's more than holding his own. He's a plus player and the team has been winning. Not sure how that's a tire fire.

Holding his own? Maybe for parts of the game. He's been on the ice for 6 blown leads in the 3rd period.

I'd hold his own if he and Mayfield could shut down a game here and there.

Maybe it is because he's eating more minutes since the rest of the D is either banged up or on IR...maybe it's mostly Mayfield (which is possible as he's been awful this year).

I don't understand why the coaching staff keeps putting Mayfield out there to protect leads, he's been garbage and is a big reason why we keep blowing leads. Dobson doesn't see the ice late, why? The kid is the best defenseman on the team and is doing everything, he should be out there instead of Mayfield.

Romanov does have his flaws, but he has stepped up big lately.

Dobson is what Malakhov could have been if he had realized his full potential back in the day. Dobson is silky smooth and doing everything for the defense, he has emerged as a legit #1D right before turning 24 next month.
