Was a big fan of both his and Bouchard's in their draft year. Was excited when both were available at 10. Glad to see both are really excelling at the NHL level. He's showing a bit more offence than I originally thought he would at the NHL level.

The games against Pittsburgh and the one against Vancouver were his worst games of the season. Otherwise, Dobson has been the clear MVP of the season so far.

He's still got a lot of defensive warts and inconsistencies. That being said, he's improved since last year so even if his points level off he's still getting better overall.
Really a pleasure to watch most of the time.

The whole team was. Dobson. Has carried the isles defensive corps this year playing 25+ MIN TOI in 20+ straight games. First since Suter in 2019 to do so. Hes doing all this with the islanders missing their 3 most veteran defensman (Pelech Pulock Mayfield) for a large portion of time.
Kid is a stud.

Finally the recognition he deserves. Loved his play since his days at both Mem Cups with Acadie-Bathurst and Rouyn Noranda. This kid is a workhorse and insanely underrated. Such a beauty. Had him 3rd overall to the Habs back in 2018...ugh

should be him and not Barzal that is the isles all star rep. He's really stepped up this year. The D at that top end of the 2018 draft class is one for the ages.

Dobson is essentially the same player he was in the Q during those Memorial Cup runs, 25+ all situations beast, #1PPQB and PPG. His passing ability is sublime, he makes some eye opening passes. Improving defensively, so smooth offensively and high hockey IQ. He deserves all the praise that he's been receiving.

He was great against the Leafs aside from one really bad turnover. But if he cleans up those defensive lapses he'll be one of the best in the league for awhile imo
The difference in his defensive game between last year and this year is a huge improvement. I think indirectly the loss of Pelech and Pulock helped Dobson because all of a sudden he is forced in situations they didn't use him last year. Also playing 25+ minutes a game compared to 20+ seems to help as well.

Dobson is now listed at 6'4 200, he still needs another 10 pounds or so of added size and strength to his game. He is noticeably more physical and effective in board battles this year, but he still has a hard time against big forwards. He is clearly very smart so I have little doubt that his defensive reads and play will improve with more experience.
Dobson's passing ability is sublime, he makes some really amazing passes. He intended to pass to Barzal for the OT winner against Toronto, what an intelligent and poised play. He's among the NHL leaders in assists for good reason, I think he is high up on the primary assist list as well. It also helps that Barzal and Dobson have always had good chemistry, it is even more pronounced now and a big factor on the improvement of the PP. The addition of Horvat has really completed the PP too.
It really seems that Dobson has PPG ability and that makes him a Norris contender. As a 25+ minute all situations beast being that offensively productive, he has a strong argument to be considered.

1 game from the All Star break and Dobson has been awesome.
5th in the NHL in assists
3rd among defensemen in assist only 1 and 2 assists behind Hughes and Makar.
3rd among defenseman in points
2nd in the NHL in TOI only behind Doughty.
Dobson just turned 24 this month. He’s a certified stud and top pairing defenseman.
Hes also a +20 while playing the tough minutes on an isles team that doesn’t have. A good goal differential -22. Impressive
