While Larsson was a big part of it, our defensive numbers as a whole are pretty good while our offensive numbers as a whole were putrid. This should make us a much better team than last season. Plus we might be better able to attract UFA's now.

Good trade for both, Edmonton shores up their D (they have a tone of skilled forwards and give up an elite player for a sturdy def), New Jersey gets a marketable player, with their roster it does not really matter - they don't have any more good dman (Well Green with a stretch), but nor did they have any good forwards (except for Zajac), they can sell his shirts though

Multiple reports have Hall being a major issue in the locker room. i think it definitely was part of it. Get rid of the primadonna attitude and maybe the rest of the team follows suit. Definitely character issues at play here and it has contributed to the lack of growth in the team. Let Macdavid and the youngsters set the tone and attitude moving on. This team is to talented to remain cellar dwellers forever. Maybe new attitudes can help

Maybe, why not? You want us to not chase UFA's? I don't get how the Leafs not signing a player who wasn't even eligible to be signed is on par with you trading your highest producing forward for Larsson... but I guess people go to some crazy lengths to rationalize that it's not so bad.

You can bet if McDavid is pondering UFA status, he will also be catered to. It's life, it didn't cost the Leafs anything.

He's not going anywhere. He will never be a Leaf just like Stamkos will never be a Leaf. Get over it.
