You don't get a player to agree without talking numbers. I'm just going off what's reported. I'm not reaching at all, how do you get a big fish to verbally agree to sign without talking term and money? I don't want Lucic anywhere near Vancouver. But I believe in an even playing field. Funny how they deal their top LW 2 days before free agency, and less than 24 hours after the best LW in free agency meets with the team.

Agree 100%. I have been one of the guys saying Edm should really pay up for a top pair guy. Well they gave up alot for a middle pair guy. NJ won this by alot. Im a NYR fan and watch NJ alot. Larsson is not anything special. This sucks for me because Hall will create so many chances against our RH defensemen lol.

Edmonton needed this deal whether the value was bad or not. Hopefully they get Lucic which will help them get bigger and tougher Ederle, hall, and Hopkins were to injury prone and didn't fit the make up of the west. I'm sure getting puljujarvi helped too as he is the perfect winger built for the western conference. If Edmonton can somehow manage to grab a number four guy I can see them being a much better team next year. They lose this trade value wise but depending on how they make other moves they could be much improved going into next season.

Larsson is better than Dumba.

The difference in value between Hall and RNH doesn't matter as much as concentrating talent on defense.

Watched both play and I'm biased towards Swedish dmen and I can assure you that Dumba is a better player, plus he's 2 years younger.

I'm not jumping in the air jazzed about the trade but I think its the right one as Hall has become the new face of Oiler losing over the last couple years. I think Hall is a helluva hockey player but he has his warts and IMO this is a trade that both teams will improve as a result of so its good!

Plus it enables the Oil to nab Lucic so even better!

It makes it plainly obvious how much more important defense is compared to wingers. Hall is a better winger than Larsson is a defenseman but I think the Oilers got better today.

NJ's defense looks like a mess now though. Or am I missing something?

The cost wasn't Hall.

The cost was Hall minus Lucic, which is likely 2-3 goals per season since Hall is made of glass.

This is a fantastic trade for EDM, despite the return. If Lucic signs EDM adds a mandatory playoff team piece while getting nastier up front. The net cost for Larsson was nothing, if Lucic signs.

Seems like a great trade for both honestly, Larsson is pretty underrated around here. Too bad it destroys my dream of seeing EDM ice a top-6 entirely composed of 1st overalls.

Nah, probably Henrique who he played with at Windsor and won the Memorial Cup with. And in a few years maybe Zacha or McLeod who have high cielings. But whatever, he will just sour on Zajac.
