I think if I’m Tre, I’m making this a bigger move than just one player.

I’m thinking about defense, the 4th line, our prospects who can step in, even goalies and signing Nylander if I’m the GM right now.

I think if this is happening and it drags out, that these teams are looking at a bigger deal. I wouldn’t mind a 10 player deal with the flames again
You had me right up until that last sentence.

did you mean when he has a capable partner to carry his load for him???????

Muzzin-Brodie in that playoff series against the Bolts was actually highly effective. Muzzin had missed a bunch of time but Brodie was probably a breath of fresh air after being with Holl for a couple of years.

Was hoping we'd get him last summer. Big, mobile, physical d-man has been on my wish list for years.
I won't even care if we overpay a little.
And if we do acquire Zadorov, find a way to keep him if at all reasonable to do so.

Zadorov and Leafs GM Brad Treliving have an obvious history, and the Leafs have reportedly been interested in the big Russian defenseman since before the season began, which bodes well for a potential deal to be struck. Treliving also has a great relationship with Flames GM Craig Conroy, which also doesn't hurt.

Zadorov and the Leafs might be a match made in heaven with what they stand to be able to do for one another right now. Big, nasty, physical defensemen seem to be a hot commodity. Zadorov is already an effective NHL defenseman in Calgary during the regular season, but his game is tailor made for the postseason.

Certainly would help towards replacing Schenn.

TJ Brodie back to Calgary @ $5 mil for Zadorov $3.750 mil = + $1.25 mil additional cap space and then allows the Leafs to carry an extra depth player.
Why on EARTH would Calgary make that trade? Beyond the reality that they also have zero cap space. (so they can't take on Brodie's contract without clearing out more cap space somehow...) Why does everyone assume we could just dump our garbage in trades for their better pieces?

While we are at it, let's just trade up Domi + Reaves to Edmonton for Draisaitl!

Calgary is going to want something spicy in return or they will find another dance partner. And the cap numbers have to work.

To get Zadorov you’re gonna have to give up a first , Minten, or Robertson . You think the cost is worth it ? Not to mention giving up another asset to get rid of Klingberg.

Brodie's better and its not close.

If we dump Brodie we lose a top PK guy who can either play shutdown minutes or supporting Mo. Z is a depth PK guy who you want in the 4/5 role

Give me Brodie over Zadorov any day.

To get a 28 year old impending UFA D with the 5th highest TOI on the 3rd last team in the league?

This is waaaaay too much

He's got the 5th amount of TOI on the 3rd from the bottom team in the NHL.

But he's big!!
