Peeke would be cheap to acquire and plays a style that tends to work with our best Dman. Not at least looking into it because you are holding out for a trade that won’t happen is stupid.

If they're going to spend more assets they need to get a fit long-term with Rielly. Brodie and McCabe did well together except for the Florida series. Plus Brodie is aging out. Maybe he would be okay on the bottom pair at cheaper cost going forward.

Half measures cost more in the end. Either fix the issue for the next 4-5 years or stand pat and see if the internal options can flourish.

Either way though, get rid of Klingberg.

Honestly, i dont think Zadorov is an upgrape over McCabe...

A 5th/4th dman playing in a specific role role, bring a physical presence but i dont think thats really THE MOVE leafs need to do...

Zadorov isn't meant to replace McCabe.

We get Zadorov so when the playoffs come around you're not relying on the corpse of Giordano to play any meaningful role, and give us another mean player to keep the opposing team's forwards honest.

This defense will not be fixed with one trade, we should all know that.

If we trade for Zadorov we might not be able to get a #2-3 later. From everything I’ve read, Zadorov makes a lot of mistakes and is closer to being a #5. I think we should be patient and wait for a #2-#3. Even Tanev at 75 % would be a better option imo.

I don't think Rielly and Brodie are the right pairing for each other. It's working out for now, at least this season, but finding the right partner for Rielly, is a must long-term. The challenge of course... is that Brodie and McCabe don't really work together at all.

Balance top 4 in D, you get 3 d able to play 22 to 25 minute every game... McCabe and liljegren can play around 20 each...so gio still 15- he ice time...

Better version of last season... try to put rielly on most offensive situation you can and brodie-Pesce as an elite shutdown pair who can shutdown every line in this league.

If you trading key piece for Zadorov, you dont have those asset anymore for better option... and is not even close to be at pesce level and probably wouldn't had half of his impact. But losing asset for him can cost you a big opportunity on the futur. Thats where i have a problem by trading for zadorov because right now dont hope get Zadorov for any price under a 1st pick / Minten, robertson, cowan. They will not trade Z right now for a 3rd pick and a cap dump when they can just wait to TDL and at worst get that price

A lot of rumours have Minten involved which makes sense, he plays in the WHL. Calgary probably scouts there heavily. I could see Minten involved if we are acquiring both Tanev and Zadorov

We shouldn't be trading for two LD, that much is for sure.... and if you are going for two guys, it's probably Weegar and Zadorov. At least with Weegar, you've got control, even though it's a contract that is too high for the player.
