Rumor: Nikita Zadorov Would Welcome Move To Toronto

Rather give up the farm for Weegar (5) and Hanifin (2,475,000). Bring in another team for retention. Send McCabe (2), Liljegren (1.4), Timmons (1.1), Reaves (1.35), Samsonov (3.55) for cap dumps the other way.

You’re not getting Weegar AND Hanifin.

Everyone wants more snot and size...me included.
But I was doing a post-game analysis in my head.

Looking at our D against Calgary, who can you use in OT?
Reilly...great
I am now out of options, no other solid skating, reliable puck-moving D on the the team.

As much as Zadarov would improve the bottom pair and PK we really need BETTER options.

We need to dig for the next toews for Colorado type deal second round pic for a solid top 4 dman whether top 4 on a trash team or a 3rd dman on a deep dcore that looks like a steal

Where is nimela/cowan/minten/knies/robertson?

None of them on the table and you dont get those guys

Liljegren as a regular... Timmins if he plays, and he should, at least over Klingberg

But ya, with injuries, currently the best option is Brodie or McCabe

Our 1st, Knies, Robertson and Minten should definitely be off the table for Zadorov. I wouldn’t want to move Niemela either unless it’s a deal for Hanifin. I can see the Flames having interest in Holmberg and Kokkonen. Two young guys basically knocking on the door to the NHL.

Peeke + Zadorov would be a great change to the blue line.

Zadorov checks every box. Big hitter, big fighter, leader, can transition the puck fairly well so you can play him in a defensive pairing with Mccabe unlike Brodie. And he's getting better, these huge guys often develop slower.

If Calgary eats Klinberg's deal, I'm putting that 1st on the table.
 
To preserve assets the Leafs should ship out Klingberg for a team needing an offensive right D and we can use those assets in a separate trade. I'm really loathe to give up our 1st pick in this deep draft for a rental.

Why would we do that though? Some desperate team would easily take an expiring Klinberg if they need an offensive defenseman.

It's interesting that Dahlin specifically requested a player like this as his partner and that's why Buffalo targeted Clifton.

It makes sense to pair an offensive defenseman with a stay at home guy as his partner. I'm not saying Zadorov is the answer. But if he's better than Stinkberg, without costing an arm and a leg, the Leafs should definitely be looking into it.

He literally can't be any worse than what they already got.

Zadorov already has way too much hype surrounding him, steer clear of that price.. Peeke at least shoots RH and will cost significantly less.

Regardless, McCabe, Lagesson and Benoit have all brought physicality while maintaining the same level of play as a Zadorov type.

I’m really starting to think we steer clear of this guy too much hype it’s gonna put us in a bidding war for someone who isn’t proven wrong move look at peeke as the primary target for Reilly so we’re not scrambling when the seasons over and see how that looks I think that’s a move that should be pulled off immediately

Unless we think we can do serious damage in the playoffs, I'm not trading our #1 pick. We have to restock the cupboard with good young talent like Knies and Cowan. Would be nice to draft a top 3 dman.
