McDavid on track to destroying the Penguins yet again. A goal and an assist halfway through the game. That’s now 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points while being +15 in his last 5 1/2 games against them.

McDavid hit 79 assists today. There have been 11 79+ assist seasons since 1995-96. This is McDavid's 3rd (2022, 2023, 2024).

Leaves the weekend with 103. Definitely still the favourite to win the Art Ross in my opinion but he will have to pick up his pace. Ties go to Kuch and Mack with the goals tie breaker so technically 9 back right now with 19 games to play. If he rests on their road B2B to finish the season if the Oilers are locked into the #2 seed that leaves him with 17 games to do it.

Was in attendance. The last 3 games I’ve seen him play in Pittsburgh he has 11 points.

Probably have a pretty clear indication of where the race will end up in the next few days. If MacK goes off against Calgary and Vancouver, it will be incredibly tough for McDavid to make up the deficit.
Good McDavid needs to show up against the Capitals and then further trim the deficit to 5 or less in their head to head game on Saturday. A tall task for this season's version of McDavid going up against peak MacKinnon.

It's McDavid's if he manages to catch up and take the lead at any point. I can't see there being a back-and-forth like there has been with MacKinnon and Kucherov if that happens. I do believe it's MacKinnon's to lose, but he can't afford to slow down.

If you’re going to cherry pick like that, then we have to use his most recent game which was 3 points and decreasing MacKinnon’s lead by 27%. Seems quick enough to me.
You would think people would have learned by now to not count McDavid out until the season concludes and those games in hand are made up, but here we are.

MacKinnon with a 5 point edge on Kuch + McDavid, and for one of the first times this year, also pacing for more goals than Kucherov. If this ends this way, MacKinnon is obviously sweeping Hart + Ross. McDavid had a lot of games in hand for a while, but is down to only 2 games in hand now with an 8 point gap on MacKinnon, so he needs to start getting hot if he's going to take a crack at the Ross.
Matthews still on pace for 69 goals - which would be an incredible total - but it's also a far cry from the ~78 goals/115 point pace he was on a little bit ago. Reinhart on pace for 57 goals, probably out of Rocket race barring an injury, but would still be a fantastic total.
For defensemen - Quinn Hughes is pacing for 94 points compared to 90 for Makar, but with 5 games more. Hughes will probably win the Norris, but I think Makar is still within striking distance.

A few notes:
Marner already has raw point totals of 94, 97 and 99 (one of those in 72 games so the pace was well over). I'd guess he really hopes he can get over the hump this time.
Four players pacing for 50+ goals and two of them just even 50. Scoring is up so much that this number is a bit underwhelming tbh. Or are there more below this group of players?
Not watching Avs games but I find it surprising that Makar hasn't been able to pass Hughes in MacKinnon's pull. With his skill and their roster and current scoring environment he "should" be pushing 100, though the few missed games obviously do have an effect.
I'm equally puzzled/impressed by McDavid's assist total as I am with his lack of goals.
Nevertheless, quite the scoring race we're witnessing! I hope that it's not over yet (as Mack has been able to create some gap).
Hyman is also on pace for 50 goals (56)...but that's it for 50 goal scorers this year. I agree it seems like a low number at first, but not that different from past 2 years. 4 50 goal scorers in 21-22, and 5 last year.
As for defensemen - both Hughes and Makar are having amazing seasons, but both have also slowed down a lot vs where they seemed to be headed early in the year. For Makar specifically being behind Hughes - he had a really weird 7 games pointless streak in February - not sure if he was injured or what, but that has impacted his totals. He does seem to be getting hot again lately, so passing Hughes is still very possible.

I'm going out on a limb to pro rate considering McDavid's recent pace that he gets 2 PPG in his last 19 making his total ~140. Let's see how he does....

MacK with only 2 points last night and plays again tonight against the Nucks backup which means that the Avs are about to get shutout. This is McJesus' to lose at this point. It's going to end up McJesus-MacK-Kucherov in that order.
