and so generous! truly the h(e)art winner! The margin isn't quite as clear as it is with his team lead in giveaways....close to double the next guy....and 1st in the league.

They? They might play a semblance of defense and backchecking.
Yup, better to play it safe and dump the puck instead of carrying it 200 feet for league-leading scoring totals. The margin isn't quite as clear as it is with his team lead in giveaways....close to double the next guy....and 1st in the league.
Look, I agree that skilled players are going to hold the puck more and give it away more, so a lot of giveaways doesn't necessarily mean too much....my point was to be realistic, Kucherov isn't a good defensive player, and that's ok, but we shouldn't dig up stats like takeaways to try and suggest he might be good at defense.Yup, better to play it safe and dump the puck instead of carrying it 200 feet for league-leading scoring totals.
Come on man you can’t seriously think he’s the reason the oilers haven’t won a cup2ppg and still lose, says a lot. Maybe he's just a bad leader?
Yeah and Mack and McDavid are also in the Top 10. Shocking... players who have the puck the most will also have the most giveaways. *Sarcasm*The margin isn't quite as clear as it is with his team lead in giveaways....close to double the next guy....and 1st in the league.
It's hard to assess Kucherov as a defensive player. His giveaways aren't so much a result of him having the puck (that's obviously part of it), but more that he is depended on for offense this year like never before. So he takes more risks than usual (and he always had a green light) because he is pretty much our entire offense. He needs to score if the team is going to win.Look, I agree that skilled players are going to hold the puck more and give it away more, so a lot of giveaways doesn't necessarily mean too much....my point was to be realistic, Kucherov isn't a good defensive player, and that's ok, but we shouldn't dig up stats like takeaways to try and suggest he might be good at defense.
Isn't this thread about the Art Ross?If Kucherov finishes with more points and he still gets his (worse) team into the playoffs will they still give it to MacKinnon?
Idk dude. I'm confused at what we're talking about at this pointIsn't this thread about the Art Ross?
I mean how can you argue with the "he was dominant in the playoffs, and that's why they lost" crowd?Come on man you can’t seriously think he’s the reason the oilers haven’t won a cup

Maybe they should all just make the safest pass every time to help out that stat? Or even better... just don't touch the puck!
I'm not going to repost all of the tables. But with 4 points tonight, McDavid is now 6 points behind Kucherov (with one game in hand). He's also 5 points behind MacKinnon (with two games in hand). An update after tonight's games:
A lot has changed since I last posted ten days ago. Kucherov is now the favourite for the Art Ross trophy. He's scored 11 points in the past three games. MacKinnon and McDavid have both played well objectively, but have lost ground relative to the Bolt.
- Kucherov: 55% (previously: 17%)
- MacKinnon: 32% (previously: 54%)
- McDavid: 22% (previously: 37%)
- Pastrnak: <1% (no change)
Kucherov, MacKinnon and McDavid are all virtually certain to reach 120 points (barring injury). Pastrnak has about a 7% chance (previously: 6%).
Probability of reaching 130 points:

They all have to be far below their points per game this season going forward to not reach 130, its gonna happen. McDavid who is furthest behind needs 18 points in 15 games.Should easily have three players with 120+ points. First time since 1995/96. If they all have good finishes we could have three players with 130+ points.
Yes, probably. But also possible that the Oilers might rest McDavid or at least reduce his minutes if they're locked into a playoff position and he's out of the Art Ross Race with 2 or 3 games left. They all have to be far below their points per game this season going forward to not reach 130, its gonna happen. You're right, you'll see it more down the last stretch of the season.Yes, probably. But also possible that the Oilers might rest McDavid or at least reduce his minutes if they're locked into a playoff position and he's out of the Art Ross Race with 2 or 3 games left.
McDavid will be the first to tell you doesn't care. And I truly believe he doesn't. He's won so much individual hardware at this point that a cup is all he's focused on.You're right, you'll see it more down the last stretch of the season.
Oilers don't give a f*** about another Art Ross, they want a Stanley Cup.
Will post the same as the other thread. Mac will win. Good Canadian boy that has almost no personal hardware. Voters will be itching to give it to him.
