He's the right choice.

The only problem is Habs captains tend to be the scapegoats, unless they intimidate the media and they have a GM/coach agressively defending them, like Weber. I hope they don't turn on him because I'd like him to be a Canadien for a long time.

I think we will see a change there......the new regime will not let the media do this to Suzuki.
Gainey was good at protecting players, and telling fans and media to get lost. The time for the organization to grow is now..............................the previous crap did not work.

Suzuki is a mature kid, who is a player!! Glad Vegas said no to having Cody Glass!!

I don't know him personally but he seems to have the maturity and class required to be the Montreal Canadiens captain. I like this nomination.

It's what Jeff Gorton mentioned today during his presser. He said you meet some 23 years olds and they still act like they're 18 years old. With Nick, it's the opposite. You'd think he was 30 and that he's been in the league a long time even if it's not the case.

This popped into my head instantly after I read that question. Electric player. Hard to forget him.

Congratulations to Nick. The obvious choice. Super talented, level headed and a hard worker. This is who you want your youth looking up too.

Gallagher as well with his "A". Gallagher would have been my second choice because he might not last with his body falling apart.

This leadership group will push the youth and teach them that there is no substitute for hard work. Skill only takes you so far. If skill was all that mattered Gallagher might not even be in the NHL. Gallagher has work ethic in spades and so does Nick. Good things happen when your leadership group is leading by example through hard work and dedication in practice

good choice. Only choice for me. Not only is he a gamer, but he’s a VERY intelligent and well measured individual.
There is a calm assurance to Nick, seems almost unflappable.

He brings the type of voice that will earn not only the respect of teammates but also referees, whenever they’ll be a need to interact with them.

He’s also a natural with kids and has an infectious smile. Great choice.

Great choice. Kinda feel bad for Gally getting passed over again but this was the right choice. Nick is a great person and one of the core players of the team going forward. I'm very happy for him.

I’m not a Gallagher fan by any stretch but it takes skill to score 31 goals in 2017-18, 33 goals in 2018-19 and to have been on a 30 goal pace in 2019-20 until the pandemic cut the season short.

That’s 3 straight years of 30 goals or more production (or pace for the third season).

He’s broken down and has had accidental hand injuries but that doesn’t deter from the fact that his level of skill allowed for that significant goal production while achieving it without the benefit of playing with top end offensive line mates as he would have had on most other teams.

His hand eye coordination is actually way above average for deflecting pucks, he scored a lot of goals like that.

Longer than Beliveau?

I was wrong, they're tied at 10 years, idk about "games captained" unfortunately :)

Since Koivu, I don't think its been particularly bad, all things considered: Gionta (4 years), Pacioretty (3 years) and Weber (3 years)

Suzuki has a chance to be really long tenured though. 23 is a young age!
