How much is 80M rubles in US money?

1236764.8 is what the google currency exchange thingy says.

We don't know that.

No reason to assume different either . Usually when someone is a problem within a lockerroom something will leak out which never happened . Pretty much everyone said positive things about Val all the time just that he kept to himself alot.

What a horrible person for doing this to the stars but i think whoever in russia tricked him to do this is the real culprit. Feel for Dallas and there fans if they knew he would be such a rat they obvi would of taken someone like Domi

Did Dallas refuse to trade him or possibly there were no takers. I can't believe he'd go for apparently more money and that being 1.24 mill? I am sure there are a half dozen teams that would have at least offered 2-2.5/y, no?

There HAS to be more to this

He's not a horrible person. It's completely his right to pursue this avenue in his career.

I regards to Dallas taking someone as a substitute for Nichushkin, we took Jason Dickinson 29th that year and he is turning out perfectly. I'll just pretend we took Dickinson 10th and Nichushkin 29th and proceed through my day with a smile on my face.

Must have really hated ruff if he took that little money (when you consider its the khl) just to leave Dallas for 2 years

Nill isn't one to make deals for pennies on the dollar. Nichushkin had gone to the Russian media a couple of times before, making it increasingly apparent he was a flight risk--diminishing his value around the league.

Maybe my Google currency conversion is off but that seems to be only about $1.25M USD. Doesn't seem that big of a pay bump to leave the league

i bet they dont tax 33% out of that 1.25M like here. Also, he was seemingly unhappy with coach\icetime and had no other leverage to get out of that situation.

Yikes. If any team can deal with a loss like this, it's Dallas. As a conference rival, I'm perfectly happy. As a fan of hockey, it's too bad. I always like Nuke.

You're a gem. :biglaugh:

What a "horrible" person... a free agent who signs with another team. Better tar and feather the guy.

I have a question for all the Posters ripping the kid . How many of you have left a job because you and your boss don't see eye to eye ? I know most people don't like their bosses breathing down their neck .

I said it in another thread . If Yakupov becomes available I would offer Yakupov and Yakimov for him . I think the Oilers could afford to wait for him to return in a year or 2

Phewf! The Oilers dodged a bullet here. If he lasted 3 years in Dallas, the kid would have lasted 3 months on the Oilers.

Wow, that draft looks pretty darn weak so far.

If he signed for that amount then clearly Dallas dropped the ball with him. Terrible asset management.

Hes getting paid and the team loses a good prospect. Yeah he could come back in two years but even then how many more years until he's a ufa? One or two years I'd guess.

Or he just really missed family and home.

After reading everything... I actually feel good about it. He should have played in the AHL/KHL anyways. This simply gives the Stars the development he should have received without paying him. Just that he has an opt out clause for the NHL means he gave it a thought. It will only be negative if he won't return to the NHL/Stars.

On a personal note, as a foreigner living on my own in the US, I can totally understand the move. It is harder than it seems. Having a parallel live with friends and family in a different timezone is no fun. Certain things could have been done differently but I understand him. I wish him all the best and hope he comes back to the Stars as a great player!

He must have really wanted to get away from Ruff if he only took $1.25m USD to play in Russia.

I highly doubt Ruff was the issue here. Nuke's inability to perform no matter where Ruff put him is his own fault not Ruff's. Nuke's comment when he was drafted "NHL or back to Russia" kind of handcuffed the Stars from developing him properly. Dallas took a gamble and it payed off at first then he sucked something fierce after that.
