I personally think this whole 'escorted by security' thing may be being overblown.

They were the road team, they travel with security, especially after what happened to Kadri in St Louis. Russia is not the most beloved nation right now, so I am sure there is extra security around the team and its Russian players. Escorting a Russian player who is traveling alone to the airport seems logical to me.

lol His agent is now denying there was a woman in the room.

What a mess.
Yeah, that makes perfect sense to me now. Nuke probably inadvertently went to Room 6913 instead of 6915, walked in (coz the door was unlocked of course), and he found a blotto Ukrainian hooker roped & gagged by Russian mobsters. So in an act of incredible chivalry, he rescued her from her indentured servitude, brought her back to his room, called team security, and was then whisked away to MI5 headquarters for his own safety with Valentin Zukovsky hot on his heels. Val is invincible!!!

I actually think the report he got was indeed a fire report. The issue with the fire report is that there were no names. Seems like Dater jumped the gun and released this info while other media (who were all hinted at this story long before Seravalli mentioned anything) were digging and fact checking (such as getting the police report which did mention names).

It appears a lot of Avs media (and dater) were hinted to some of this information all at the same time. Most decided to go to work while dater decided to go to Twitter.

What I’d like to see is Val make a statement on this situation.

That may be hard for him to do for fear of a legal fallout, but that’s what the team, fans, and anyone else involved deserves. Hard to move past this without some kind of accountability.

These guys make so much damn money that it astounds me they can't figure out how to arrange some late night strange ahead of time with professionals with whom confidentiality is assured. I thought that's why they have agents and handlers. I used to be in-house counsel for a casino - trust me, for a few hundred, those people can hook you up with pros who aren't run by Boris Badenov.

I find it hard to believe that with his millions, Nuke called up 1-800-PutinProsties. It's America Nuke - you get what you pay for.

Correct... he got it off the Seattle public page. I doubt he realized there was a police incident or dug enough to file a public records request with police to get the actual document.

But again, props to Dater for being the first to go down this path. More props to Denver Sports or Denver Post (not sure which got the filing first or if both did) for digging further, getting the police and being good journalists to get the story. Lastly though, they should have used some discretion at not identifying the woman's name in public print.

Or maybe she weighs 400 pounds, and drunkenly came to his door instead of her own. He opened the door, she stumbled in and fell on him, reinjuring his ankle. He needed help getting out of there, and both went to the hospital...

It's possible that he wanted a prostitute that speaks Russian. Chances are Nuke has a Russian "friend" that can provide anything: girls, drugs, etc.

At this point I just hope that Nuke doesn't have connections with the Russian mob.

I'd be reallllllly shocked if some random russian criminal would mess with a high profile professional athlete. There's no way that turns out well for you.

Different era, but in the 1990s, the Russian mafia would control Russian NHLers.

Even now, there are sometimes compromises made with government officials or powerful local businessmen with regards to prospects getting out of KHL contracts. If you think of the Russian security services that Putin is associated with as criminal groups of a sort (many make this comparison), then it is possible for a Russian player to come under this type of pressure.

To be 100% clear, I am in absolutely no way suggesting any of this is related to Nuchushkin or his situation.

But I do want to point out that Russian players have historically operated under constraints and links with criminality that those in the Western world would find hard to fathom.

Just a guess, but "Olga" may have gotten into Nuke's pain meds while he was taking a wizz--AFTER the two of them had been boozing it up for awhile. A bottle of Stoli later, she's on the verge of pulling an Amy Winehouse, when Avs team doctors & security show up, check on her condition, and call 911. Nuke's actually damn lucky she didn't stop breathing. However this went down, it was very, very stupid behavior by #13, and there's a real good chance his wife is gonna take his ass to the cleaners in divorce court if she can file here in the US.

It will be interesting how the press conference goes today. Undoubtedly, there will be a heavy focus on this... especially to Bednar.
He will answer it the same way as he already has. Val is away for personal reasons, not disciplinary. He doesn't know anything about the reports in the papers. Doesn't know when he will return.

Perhaps the team sends out a press release stating the same thing, and they won't discuss it any further. That would be an easy way to get out of answering any questions about it.

My expectation is they will answer that way, but going down that path will cause more questions than answers... which will lead to more investigation.

Nichushkin has left the team for his own personal reasons and people think he should make a statement lol?

Nobody would care if he hadn’t created scandal and a distraction.

This isn’t ‘leaving for personal reasons’, this is ‘I got caught and I’m hiding behind personal reasons as an excuse to not be held accountable.’

Yeah, "personal reasons" is a bullshit shield. He's severely hurt the team and embarrassed the organization due to his selfish actions, he should be held accountable.
