Whatever has gone on it seems pretty weird. I don't want to add to speculation, but I will anyway.

What if Nuke opted to go home ahead of this all becoming public so he could attempt to get ahead of it with his wife? Like he had to know the second paramedics turned up this was going to come out. So maybe he told the team he had to go deal.

I can't imagine the team being happy at all with that and there are likely contractual issues, but could that explain it not being a disciplinary thing and not being a legal thing. I also think the organization has more class than to say "Nuke skipped town on us" and that they are choosing their words wisely.

Actually agree with this. The way they handle their PR has finally come back around to bite them and has turned the situation into even more of a distraction.

Avs have fumbled this the whole way. They hoped they could bury it for now under personal issues and nobody would search for it. Now they punish the Post and The Fan for their running with the story.

Is being with a prostitute really cheating on his wife? I mean you typically don’t have feelings or love the prostitute. You’re not gonna leave your wife and run off with the prostitute. It’s pretty much the same thing as if you were married and masturbated. Masturbation is not cheating
Guys justifying and being okay with people they are fans of cheating on their wives… that’s sad.

I have my hot takes, but standing up and justifying infidelity is insane.

I don’t even know how a person can argue with this kind of logic
Kingslayer did as well. There’s some f***ed up logic in here. Hockey culture is really turning me off to my favorite sport. Fans justifying the actions is almost as bad.

I just read Finnish translated version, is it true she was found 15:20? Day time?! So they were drinking for that long or started drinking at the start of the day. That's insane time to be still so wasted.
No source has stated that Val was drinking. Yet.

Bro almost all of them do it. You dont even wanna know. It wouldnt even shock me if Cale cheats on his girl based on some of the "good guys" who I seen do this or attempt to do this.

Oh I’m sure it does. I just don’t get it.

I mean I’m doing well in life and travel a ton but I can’t say I’ve bought into the tech culture at any point. I have a total babe for a wife and and I can party but there’s lines that are really easy to not snort or cross lol.

Pretty goods odds that Nuke has played his last game for the Avs, if not in the NHL, if the dots being logically connected are true.

Unless he is completely out of the direct involvement and some Russian friends crashed his room without him being there, Val is likely done. And perhaps rightfully so.

Will reserve judgement till more is known, but it looks about worst case here.

I might be too drunk to read this right now. I shall circle back in the morning.

I don't want to pour unjustified gas on the fire, but there is one thing which still bothers me, and it might be in Nukes favor.

Why the multiple security guards?

Bednar has actually stated that there is no legal issue, nor discipline issue. Yet he needed to be escorted onto a plane. The woman, speaking Russian, said a bad guy took her passport. That sounds like a Russian pimp, connected to the Russian mob, who could off Nuke in a second. Everyone can let their minds roam as to how that situation came to be, or just steal a plot from a Schwartzenegger movie. I've run into Avs and other players in team hotels. They never have security around them. Avs management decided 2 things: 1) he needed to get the hell out of there and 2) he needed to stay the hell out of the limelight. There is, perhaps, a 5% chance that the story leads to Nuke being a hero.

Even in this interpretation - of which @Sea Eagles would be proud of my optimism - means he has some 'splainin to do with the wife. And it is surely stupid to leave one's team hanging ever, let alone the playoffs.

All told, we are supposed to be fans. And humans. The guy appears to have made a mistake, though none of us know the full scale of the stupidity. I recall McDavid - whom Bettman just called the NHL Posterboy - was caught out with a pretty blond who was not his wife. Why don't we all cross our fingers for Val, hope he learns from whatever the hell happened, and try to figure out what 2C is avalaible for Toews this summer!

Depends who you are I guess. I cant imagine the temptation these athletes are faced with so I cant judge. I would stay single for as long as possible if I were in that situation I guess. Foppa didnt settle down until after his playing days were done so my man did it right.

Punishment? What did I miss?

I don't want to quote you and be a buzz kill but revisionist history says there is a heart and soul guy in Calgary who we maybe should have paid. Our window is slamming shut faster than when we were saying we couldn't afford him to age with that contract. Manson when we resigned him was looking good now I'm not so sure. (I get it the guy was injured but big yikes ATM) These optics are speculation and time will tell but this is seemingly going from a bad situation to worse I'm in agreement nuke might not play on NHL ice again.

Morally nobody should ever cheat on a person you are married to or engaged or long term exclusive relationship. We don’t exactly know his situation, but in my view, he did a morally wrong thing here.

That said, the saying never meet your heros almost always applies. Most are kinda garbage people and do garbage things. If we are to always judge people by their worst acts at all times… there would be very few people to cheer for or be supportive of. Humans are flawed beings and do some terrible things. That doesn’t always make them terrible or irredeemable. If Nuke has issues with drugs, booze or sex… well he should get treatment and attempt to stabilize his life. If he keeps f***ing up, then you have to accept he’s shitty. If he changes, he should be able to have a chance to come back.

As I think about this, I feel like this is another place Landeskog's absence is acutely felt. Players are how a locker room holds each other accountable.

Maybe obvious to everyone else, but just another cursed aspect to this cursed season.

It’s not the right thing to do, but if you think Nuke is the only married guy playing in the NHL who cheated on his wife, you need to wake up. Nuke is just the one that got caught. Again I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying don’t be naive

Landy is with the team all the time even practices with them. Hes in the same hotel they were in in Seattle when this went down. His presence isnt missing by any means in fact I think he might be a distraction.

MacKinnon isn't psycho but if he ever does get a hold of Nuke we might actually see a psycho MacKinnon. 😂☠️

Nonetheless a take right on the money.
