Denver Post: Nichushkin involved in incident that prompted police/medical response

It’s actually not a hard thing to do. Next time Avs are on the road which is tomorrow, all we have to do is find out which hotel the Avs staying in, find Newhook’s room number, pay a hooker and send her to his room

There is, perhaps, a 5% chance that the story leads to Nuke being a hero.

Even in this interpretation - of which @Sea Eagles would be proud of my optimism - means he has some 'splainin to do with the wife. And it is surely stupid to leave one's team hanging ever, let alone the playoffs.

All told, we are supposed to be fans. And humans. The guy appears to have made a mistake, though none of us know the full scale of the stupidity. I recall McDavid - whom Bettman just called the NHL Posterboy - was caught out with a pretty blond who was not his wife. Why don't we all cross our fingers for Val, hope he learns from whatever the hell happened, and try to figure out what 2C is avalaible for Toews this summer!

This is an unusual incident. Imo, I don’t think it’s as common as some speculate.

In the off-season I’m sure there’s a lot of shit that goes on, but I doubt this kind of thing happens that frequently in-season.

It’s way too easy for news to leak these days.

Honestly that was kind of where my mind went first too. Like by having this get uncovered, and the girl possibly rescued/getting help (possibly freed from being trafficked). Would that put Nuke in danger? Kind of concerned that's really the reason he's being kept away from everything. There's probably a ton more to the story though and that could be completely wrong but yeah my first thought is they're just trying to protect him from who knows what, angry pimp/mob/whatever. I was reallllly trying not to speculate but well, here we are lol.

Or maybe he has the same injury Bo got from the pornstars in Finland. :sarcasm:
 
welp, best case scenario he was just cheating his wife (morally wrong but who I am to judge? let the couple solve this) and partying too much hours away from a crucial playoff game. very disappointing, considering we are just a few months away from him signing a fat millionaire contract with the org.

That’s the problem. This happened at the worst possible time. In the middle of a playoff round. If this was an off season incident, I’m not sure if it would be as big of a deal.

It's tough to say it's a morally wrong thing to do unless we know what boundaries were set between Nuke and his wife. I have friends who aren't rich athletes and are in open marriages. Not my personal cup of tea, but to each their own.

Also, there is this phrase in Russian "курортный роман," basically like a vacation fling. In my experience, there are a sizable number of everyday Russians who believe that hooking up while on vacation in Turkey or Bali or Egypt or wherever doesn't count as cheating on your spouse if you're not vacationing together.

I chose cheating as the term specifically and my thought process is that if your partner is okay with it, it isn’t cheating. Open marriages are not my thing, but that isn’t cheating IMO.

I'd be reallllllly shocked if some random russian criminal would mess with a high profile professional athlete. There's no way that turns out well for you. Most likely Nuke is going to rehab. This a pretty rough incident in terms of optics, but I'm pretty confident he'll play again for the Avs as long as he gets the right help.

Why would Nuke go to rehab? Has he known to have alcohol problem or sex addiction or something?

If it’s an on going alcohol issue then yes, he should get help, but Nuke has been with the Avs for 4 years and 4 years with Dallas prior, and this is the first time something like this happened to him, or at least as far as we know. If it’s an on going issue, he sure has done a good job keeping a secret until now
 
And to think at one time I wanted us to use player pics with Dune spice eyes as our playoffs avatars like we did about 10 years ago. Guess I can get rid of this.

So Nuke ordered a hooker and they got hammered? She became distressed because she was hammered? Why did he abandon the team? To go beg his wife for forgiveness?

I don't really see the big issue here. Something else is going on

Theo Fluery was so messed up on cocaine and hookers that the NYR used to pay someone to follow him around and make sure he didn't get in too much trouble lol he would drop thousands nightly at strip clubs and regularly played high on coke

In all seriousness, the odds of Nuke just sitting around in his hotel room playing Tiddly-Winks while "Olga" was getting plastered is slim to none. He was most likely partying it up on game day, which is as selfish, stupid & unprofessional as it gets for a pro athlete. And how about next season? He'll have a hell of a time earning his teammates respect back after this fiasco. Unless there's more to this story than meets the eye, any & all excuses he comes up with to explain this away aren't worth the value of the empty vodka bottles in his hotel room wastebasket. Nice job buddy!
