Nicholas Robertson Discussion.

Robertson is a natural goal scorer and he understands where he needs to go and get space especially being a smaller guy. I think the issue is that when you are on the 4th line with a few minutes each game then you are forced to skate hard all the time and try to get noticed in the minutes you have to move up the line. This is a top 6 guy playing with players that can't get him the puck (more Simmonds than Spezza) so he has to try to do what he can to play with the big boys. I think overall he can be a player for us. He needs to get in the top 6 and some PP minutes to get him looks and build his confidence. I believe right now is the perfect time when we need Nylander and Tavares more engaged and contributing.

I have no problem with him getting reps in a top 6 role… but should happen in the AHL. We don’t really need him on the Matthews Marner line and the idea that he would be force fed onto the Tavares Nylander line to get them going is not fair to a 20 year old.

I don’t mind that he gets some looks with the big team but this guy should be developing away from scrutiny and allowed to gain experience as a pro in a stable environment. We should kind of forget about him a little bit and not constantly yo yo him around like “is he ready yet”. Too much damn tinkering with this player.
 
Nice to see him get his first regular season goal on the two on one with Nylander in front of a crowd. One thing that looked good with him out there instead of Kerfoot is he seemed to be positions to better support the other two linemates instead of everyone distributed all over the place when it was Tavares, Nylander and Kerfoot.

Well that was statistically his best NHL game by a mile. Even without the goal he was in a league of his own at controlling expected goals at 5 on 5. No one who played tonight for either team was within a 5% range of him.
 
What is the genetic background of the Robertson's.

I didn't even know about Jason Robertson, till I searched hockey db recently.

I was shocked that there were two of them and how great Jason was.

Was news to me.

Fair!, this is pro hockey, this team has been too fair for too long. Time to develope and win. Time to stop treating millionaires like your child. For 54 yrs admiration has not worked. Punch did not admire. He won 4 Cups.
