That is what I thought was strange

Dubas also wanted the Colorado job and Shanahan blocked him

Dubas contract ends
No trades kick in
Was he preparing for his big move if it didn't work out Mathews follows him ?

Well, looks really bad for all parties involved if collusion has been occurring based on the rules cited.

what would be hilarious IMO would be if they agents only got the wind of this when Shanny used "dubas' agent" blurb in the presser; otherwise it would have gone unnoticed

what i'd like to know is:

1) when dubas signed his first deal who was his agent; did he even have one?
2) when he signed matthews' contract who was dubas' agent and how is it that dubas structured the contracts in a way that the NMCs/NTCs would kick in for Matthews, Marner and Nylander all at the same time as his contract is about to expire

I think someone in the MLSE is about to be fired for not "thinking things through" when signing off

Well the Matthews deal seemed pretty ill timed in terms of the NMC lock out in the last year and seemed to be designed, as we discussed last week before shit hit the fan. The Marner one kicking in looks even worse since it’s 2 years out and there’s no rhyme or reason why he should have it.

If Dubas has actually designed this contractual dead end, colluded with agencies, tried to over throw his boss and tried to play the sympathy card in public negotiations… plus the obvious power struggles with Lou and Babcock and Hunter in the past. You kind of wonder what team would bring that into the fold.

They’re kicking in because they have reached 7 years in the NHL and it’s the first year they are eligible for them.

The only mastermind behind the timing is the Gregorian calendar.

I’m kinda wondering if it’s normal for GM’s to even have agents? If you can negotiate professional contracts as your job, why do you need someone taking a percentage on your contact… the whole thing is bizarre.

Nylander’s played an extra year than the other two.

Aren't these all negotiated ?

I couldn't help noticing that you didn't actually explain in any way why this thread is embarrassing. And we all know you never will. You just used ridicule rhetoric in an effort to stifle this discussion. And that seems to have failed.

Relax justice league, it’s an observation, and my opinion at that; it doesn’t require explanation since it’s subjective.

That said, since you seem to be offended, I’ll explain where my comment comes from. Dubas is gone and yet there’s two factions that aren’t moving past it — both sides obsessed with placing their bias on their stance, even when it’s a stretch. This thread has devolved into conspiracy theories simply because one side wants to justify all their hate toward Dubas.

I find it pathetic that people can’t just move on and look toward the future here. Everyone needs to justify their side to such an extent that these forums will carry this bias until everything has settled, and even then, some will still continue on — Lou continues to be mentioned on these forums solely because people want to feel like they’ve been right all along.

To me, this underlying bias ruins all conversation and I stand by stating that there’s a correlation between this type of behaviour and intellect. Like I said, I’ll come back when we’re actually talking about the team and not some fantasy world. As I said at the start, it’s my opinion, there are no facts to be argued here so regardless of your opinion, mine won’t change.

They were for these guys. No world they don’t get them.

Here is MacKinnon's contract for reference look at when his NMC kicks in and then for comparison look at when Marner's NMC kicks in

The comparison is only shown to show how absolutely putrid and an absolute piece of trash dubas was as a gm who screwed the Leafs

This by no means is suggesting that if other teams screw up; its ok for Leafs to screw up too

I'm loving how Dubas looks worse and worse with every passing day. Hard to believe there were people defending his every move.

The Matthews contract suddenly makes a helluva lot more sense now. There was 0 reason to cave on both term and AAV if you're negotiating from a Leafs POV. Unfortunately Dubas was not.

I think I value McDavid to the Leafs more than putting the screws to the fraud that is dubas

may be we should calm down with wasserman group :dunno:

When things like this come out straight to the media within a week of Dubas leaving MLSE, it's not an accident. MLSE don't appear to be playing around. If there's another Dubas-was-done-dirty media rumour floated, who knows what else MLSE has in the chamber? Kyle Dubas would not be the first hockey guy to be made persona non grata.

Dubas shills like CJ, Mirtle and Seigel should have just shut up; but of course.... and BOOM now we got an interesting summer

Shanahan 4D chess: lets make a circus so that people stop talking about the pending contracts/UFAs and no gm

;)

Interestingly none of the pro-dubas media types are retweeting this but couldn’t wait to retweet that Shanahan blocked Dubas’ trades

This how you weed out bullshit from quality right there

Good post

:yo:

Read the article. It doesn't matter that you personally see no conflict. It's undisputed that if two certified agents work for the same firm, that it is 100% a conflict.

The only thing that is potentially saving Dubas/the agent is that the agent was not NHLPA certified and thus not necessarily subjected to the same rules.

Wouldn’t matter if one agent was certified and one agent was un-certified - - they both worked for the same firm.

The only way out for Dubas would be if he didn’t have any ties to Wassermans when he did the Matthews contract and only recently hired the guy who was representing him.

Nylander got that famous verbal NMC when he signed.

Dubas gave those out everybody.

Can you believe Justin Holl had a NMC too? Justin M.F. Holl, one of the most useless defenceman in the league and Dubas feels the need to hand him a NMC along with $6M over three years.

Dubas is the worst negotiator in pro sports history.

So is the suggestion that Matthews agent and dubas agent would conspire to have Matthews leave and go here he goes?

Is that the idea?

Could they not have just had that conversation themselves? While members of the leafs?
