So for the record there is no need to have the nhl network any more?

This is one of only two open questions left. The open questions are:

1.) NHLN - Will it be like last season where NHLN games weren't blacked out on the out-of-market package? More broadly, who is even operating NHLN this year?

2.) Are the games that are available via Hulu on the regular Hulu packages or only Hulu Live?

was posting to ask " isn't NHL Network run by MLB Network?"

but now i see that the deal's 6-year term may have completed

NEW YORK (August 4, 2015) - The National Hockey League and Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, today announced a groundbreaking digital media rights partnership. 1) is a question still, may not know until a game is on NHLN.
2) as long as you have ESPN+ and Hulu (normal, not live tv), you will have the games from ESPN+ Viewable on Hulu as log as the logins are linked. I recommend the Disney + bundle, which includes ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney +, this makes linking easier.

one question I have, where will the preseason games be viewable? I have yet to find that answer yet.

The bundle is a pain in the ass to get. If you are already subscribed to Disney+ and Hulu it doesn't allow you to purchase the bundle which is a nice savings. I just cancelled my Hulu subscription ,was going up from 1.99 to 6.99 anyway next month and I don't use Hulu often. So maybe have to wait a day and can then add the bundle through my Disney+ account.

I have used Hulu for years and when Disney + came out, I got the bundle because of our kids. I don’t recall the process, but I didn’t think it was overly painful, it certainly was not super easy. I set the bundle up for my parents a month ago or so, but they only had Disney + and that sign up process was not a big deal.

I will also add that I signed up for sling tv for ESPN and tnt channels. Best value for live tv, IMO

On #2, that doesn’t at all answer the question though. If you have just regular Hulu, without ESPN+, will you be able to view the exclusive games? I’m not asking for myself here. I’ll have ESPN+ for the out of market package. But for those in market, it might be an option to just have regular Hulu if it’s available that way. Not-live Hulu came with my Spotify subscription and I have access to Disney+ via a shared account, so if I did happen to be in-market, getting the bundle or ESPN+ would be a waste of money.

ESPN+ also streams the draft, TDL, and free agency activities. It's not perfect but it's a superior product to NHL.TV, IMO.

There are companies I dislike supporting with financial commitments. In general, I don't feel that way with Disney. Something about that mouse...

In all seriousness, they generally do things the right way so I'm excited about the partnership (Disney/NHL)

Except for when they don't pay authors for their work.

Yeah and they have a ton of other content, too. If you're a soccer fan for example it's worth the price for that alone. I was bummed when Serie A went to CBS and their stupid Paramount+ service but there's still so much content.

My understanding (take it for what it is worth) is that if you have regular Hulu, no, you won't be able to watch ESPN+ games on Hulu, you need both Hulu and ESPN+ linked to be able to watch ESPN+ content on Hulu. ESPN+ content on Hulu is newer, just added in the last few months, but does require subscription for them both.
In order to watch ESPN+ content on Hulu, you must have purchased the ESPN+ add-on via Hulu or be a Disney Bundle subscriber. If you have a separate ESPN+ subscription that is not part of The Disney Bundle or purchased via Hulu, you cannot watch ESPN+ on Hulu.
Watch ESPN+ in the Hulu app: Stream Live Sports and Exclusive Originals | Hulu.com.

Here is the link to the list of games and where they are exclusive: The Walt Disney Company Announces 103 Exclusive NHL Games Across ESPN, ESPN+, Hulu and ABC Beginning October 12 - ESPN Press Room U.S.

Out of market, Disney bundle (Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+), a live option (Sling TV is what I plan on using because of the cost being the cheapest option i have found for ESPN and TNT), and possibly antenna if ABC is not available on your live streaming option. There still are blackouts depending on the area you live and those games you'll have to figure something out to watch them or just listen to them.

In market - I know people that loved fuboTV (if going streaming and avoiding cable/satellite), but sometimes had problems with games when they did not show up on the normal MSG channel, such as MSG 2 or MSG+ 2, etc. Some games will be exclusively on ESPN+ though (see the link above for that list.

I hope this helps some. I don't have all the answers there will be a learning/feeling out period especially with preseason games, but this is something i have watched closely since announced and have been an avid user of Hulu for years.

You also get access to ESPN+ articles on ESPN.com.
Having access to the 30 for 30 content is great as it is. Now I have access to some of the Futbol games shown on ESPN+. Add in the obvious value of the NHL games and its great value.

I already has Disney+ through my initial Verizon package. It was pretty painless and clear on ESPN+ of how to add/get the Disney+ bundle while already having Disney+. No additional upcharges. Now i have Hulu as well out of this.

Unfortunately had to sign up for Peacock too to get access to the Liverpool game this past weekend but is what it is.

The problem is that it isn’t clear this is ESPN+ content we’re talking about here. I haven’t seen anywhere that says that it is and that it can be accessed through Hulu, rather than being something more similar to a joint venture. There’s an implication that just having Hulu is enough, but it might not be. The closest, and this might be good enough to prove your point, is that the exclusive games list says “ESPN+ will be showing…” several times without mentioning Hulu.

But I think this goes back to several complaints in this thread… the communication about this is atrocious.

I"m concerned that there will eventually be Hulu-exclusive games, next year or after, if not this year, to prop up Hulu. Then, that would mean $$$ for Disney+ vs. just ESPN+.

Question, so if I have espn+, I'll be able to watch every Rangers game (I now live in VA)?
You should for every game that isn't exclusive to TNT or ABC.
Are you sure? That seems like a major devaluation to their Hulu Live product (and MSG might have something to say about that as well). My understanding is that ESPN+/Hulu are streaming 75 games, not 75 Ranger games.
