Maybe a mod can pin this to the top? I've repeated this twice now and we're getting the same question every page or two.

The following applies to all out-of-market people in the US. This is how you would get every NY Rangers game... 3 fairly easy steps.
  1. Out-of-Market Package
    • Streaming: ESPN+
      • This will also get you the 4 national games exclusive to ESPN+/Hulu and the 3 national games exclusive to ABC/ESPN+. That's 7 of the 13 national games.
    • Cable: NHL Center Ice
  2. TNT/ESPN/ABC
    • Streaming: Hulu Live, Sling, DirectTV Stream, etc. I believe Sling is the cheapest of these.
    • Cable: Pretty much every cable package is going to include those channels
  3. Local Regional Sports Network - when the Rangers play in your market, the game will be blacked out on ESPN+. For example, I live in Charlotte, NC and when the Rangers play Carolina (home or away) I can't watch the game on ESPN+. I need a way to watch Fox Sports Carolinas. If you're in Colorado, you'd need a way to watch Altitude. Washington, you'd need NBC Sports Washington. etc. etc.
    • Streaming: Most of the RSNs are on one streaming service or another. You can go here to find out which ones carry your local network: thestreamable.com/channels. Click the "Select a Channel" drop down and find yours. Most likely, this will also carry TNT and ESPN, so you can kill steps 2 and 3 at the same time.
    • Cable: This is most likely covered by your cable package from step 2, but you'd have to check what's available
    • Sports Bar: Some years, I've found this worth it for the few games the Rangers play the Hurricanes. Comes out much cheaper than paying for cable every month.
  4. NHL Network? I know, I said 3 steps. What's happening with this is currently unclear. There have been times where NHLN will carry a Rangers game and just simulcast the MSG broadcast, but it was blacked out on NHL.tv. Last year, this was not the case. We don't know the answer to this yet.
    • Streaming: Several of the packages have NHLN, but as an add-on in a separate tier.
    • Cable: Usually available as an add-on a separate sports tier

Below is the exclusive national TV schedule.

Question I haven't seen asked & answered yet - can you watch past games on demand on ESPN+? With work I frequently have to watch a game late at night or the next day...this could potentially be a huge issue for me this season that I hadn't considered.

I would assume yes.

On ESPN+ it says 'Stream live, rewind, or replay on up to 3 devices at once. All available in HD on the big screen or on the go with these connected devices:'

If not on ESPN+ maybe NHL.com will have the replays/condensed games.

I don't know this 100% for sure, but I've been operating under the assumption that ESPN+ will have all the same features that NHL.tv did since it's being run by the same people. If that is true, then yes.

I live on the west coast and have Hulu live/ESPN + and it's unclear how I can get any of the games that are on NHL network. There are 4 pre-season games that are NHL Network and I have no way of accessing those games unless I have cable. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get those 4 preseason matches? even in replay?

Hey folks - as an Aussie and long-time NHLTV subscriber I’m immensely pissed at the changes. Does anyone have ideas on listening to games live at least via an app?

I was pissed off too.
Bit the bullet and just setup a VPN and paid for an NHL.tv description saying I was in another country...
Tested it on the Leafs/Habs preseason game earlier today and the stream worked on both my phone and laptop so all seems good-to-go. The VPN is AUD$80 for 24 months and NHltv was AUD$140.

Log on to ESPN+.

I am also new to this, but I see the Rangers vs Islanders game tomorrow @ 5 PM on my ESPN+.

I live in Colorado so I thought it was 3 PM, but now that I think about it, 7 PM EST makes sense.

I use Nord VPN for $1.99 a month. I have to do it for the Avalanche games, not the Rangers.

So it appears there’s simply no option to watch the Rangers if I’m overseas. Is that correct? I’ve had an nhl.tv subscription for years and was very happy with it. Now, just nothing? I looked at the espn app and it says their service isn’t available for me. So, it’s lights out for me? Or am I just not looking in the right place? Any info much appreciated!

Well, NHL Network games aren't necessarily blacked out. We just don't know if they'll be available on ESPN+ as part of out-of-market yet.

That being said, the out-of-market programming isn't loaded into ESPN+ yet anyway. It doesn't matter for tonight, because the game is an ESPN+ game, like the ones they did last year, and both Rangers and Islanders broadcasts are both listed. I'm disappointed they haven't loaded in the out-of-market programming yet.

I don't see them (the games tonight) listed anywhere... I loaded ESPN+ through HULU... there's no NHL games at all.

It's definitely on the ESPN app. I only have Hulu through my Spotify account and that setup doesn't allow to you have add-ons, so I can't really help you.

wait, are you saying you see both home/away feeds for the games on ESPN+? Or are you saying you just hope to see it? Because I don't see that in the app
