With so many international teams off the board, the Ghibli are going to strengthen our ties to a certain little nation. We already have them as our international football team -- because of their joyous, non-hooligan fans -- so why not double dip?

Holy mackerel, look at these duds:

I thought the officiating in both of those games yesterday was trash. On the other hand, I don't really care.

We start the day with @Rebels57 on the clock, @CanadianFlyer88 on deck, @Chuck Downie on the lido deck, and Milord's dumb ass on the lido afterdeck.

I started watching this Netflix show called "The Night Agent" last night. It's pretty stupid and half-assed (through one episode), but for some reason I was affected by the creepy suspense. The one girl is living with her aunt and uncle in a fairly remote wooded area, but they warn her that there is trouble outside. Their phone lines and internet have been cut, so they hand her this note and tell her to run down through the woods to a neighbor's house and call the number on it and read the message off. Their electricity is also cut, so she runs upstairs in the dark and goes out a window. Before heading for the other house, she stops - like a f***ing idiot - and stares inside, where she catches sight of one of the two intruders. He hadn't even known she was there, but he sees her too, of course. He follows her down to the other house. After making the call, she hides in a closet upstairs. He creeps around after her, but the cops arrive before he can find her.

It was standard fare for this kind of story, but I don't need to see that shit at night when there is a whole bunch of dark area outside exactly like that in the show. I've already got Cocaine Bear and Cocaine Copperhead out there - I hardly need a creepy foreign operator of indistinct ethnology with a gun wandering around.

FOG Classic Actress ~ MYRNA LOY

37-61.jpg

Best known for her role as Nora Charles in The Thin Man series of films, Myrna Loy was THEE babe of 1930's cinema as far as i'm concerned. Her devilish wit was ahead of its time and her smirk was irresistable.

Team Classic Actress

By the letter of the law, this selection fits, though the majority of her career happened after 1968. She won her Oscar in 1962 for her work in West Side Story. During this period, she was also in a relationship with fellow Sockeye, Marlon Brando.

She is the third to ever achieve the EGOT, accomplishing the feat in 1977 at the age of 45; currently the 4th youngest ever to complete the run.

I was introduced to her as the badass prison nun in Oz. Sister Pete was one of the best characters in a cast full of all star performances.

Hilariously, at the age of 91, she'll appear in Fast X in what looks the be in the role of Dom's grandma.

She's a legend and the Sockeyes are thrilled to have her on board.

Welcome to the PNW, Rita Moreno!

There is so very much wrong with the state of South Carolina, but calling the women's teams the "Gamecocks" seems especially f***ed.

We start the day with @Lord Defect on the clock, unfortunately, @Beef Invictus on deck, @Hollywood Cannon on the lido deck, and DancingPanther on the lido afterdeck.

The buffering on "Some Vival 1 + 1" was especially atrocious at the end last night, so much so that I had to turn it off, so I'm not surprised that I didn't have any decent dating dreams. A total whiff there, man. Damn it.

On the other hand, we are now 10 games away from the end of the hockey season, 30 days away from the NFL Draft, and 41 days away from the NHL Draft Lottery. I had to use a calculator to figure out the latter two. Don't get me wrong, we are sure to be angry and disappointed when we get f***ed by the lotto balls (not to mention the unnecessary wins between now and the end of the season), but a month or so after that we should at least be able to see some subtractions from this team. I seriously couldn't care less who they are - just subtract, subtract, subtract. As long as they don't trade Robert Orr Brink, I'm good.

SPITE PICK 2:

DAVID LEGWAND

Legend is the other half of the Martin Erat stomach flu duo. The vomiting to his involuntary strain-pooping. Legwand has really defined the quality of Nashville's forward drafting and development from day 1, as their first ever draft pick. This guy sucks. He's awful. Poile should apologize to the NHL for robbing them of what would be the best hockey town in the league by drafting nothing but Erats and Legwands. I want him to forever suck against me. Well worse than he would.
