Thank you Cannon! Brass Cannon! Wrought Iron Cannon! Bursted Cannon!

I pick Spite D DARIUS KASPARAITIS

And I present the sum of my deep thinking about him. I've done all the logic. All the reasoning. All the math. The philosophizing leads to one easy summary. My Deep Thought is: F*CK THIS GUY

@Lord Defect! Beshitted Defect! Septic Defect! Lovely Defect!

Making up my missing pick:

"The owners of the Tampa Bay FireSticks are reluctant to make selections for Team Spite Hockey Players because we don't ever want to speak or feel ill of others in a "Judge not lest ye be judged" kind of way. However, we sought counsel about our misgivings for this category with our Team Pastor, Pope Francis, to which His Holiness replied, "Are you kidding me??!!? I could rattle off a dozen names of NHLers who I would gladly drive the Popemobile over. Get over yourselves and pick some scumbags!" He then said something in Latin that didn't sound very liturgical, or polite.

"Therefore, with His Holiness' ... umm .. blessing, we make our first selection in this subcategory: goaltender Patrick Roy.

2002-0323-patrick-roy-01250164jpg.jpg

"The aptly named Mr. Roy had undeniable talent and a flare for outstanding performances in the most meaningful games. However, he rarely missed the opportunity to make the moment about himself. His cheeky wink after thwarting a sure goal in the 1993, observed by most as the competitive bravado of a hockey warrior, but it was indicative of his desire to be the centre of attention.

"That desire undoubtedly heated to an inferno when, just 3 seasons later, Roy was left in for 9 goals by coach Mario Tremblay. He raised his arms in "acknowledgement" of the fans' mocking cheer when he made a save. When Tremblay finally pulled Roy, he pushed past the coach at the bench and told Canadiens' President Ron Corey that he had played his last game for Montreal.

"Mr. Roy picked up where he left off after being traded mere days later to Colorado. He was instrumental in the Avalanche's Stanley Cup victory that same season, and again in 2001. Mr. Roy maintained the same self-aggrandizing posture and antics with his new club, particularly against the Red Wings. He fought Wings goaltenders Mike Vernon (March 26, 1997) and Chris Osgood (April 1, 1998), and would have gone with Dominik Hasek had the referees not kept them apart.

"Later on, Mr. Roy was all too ready to display his temper as a coach in the QMJHL and NHL. He also sent his goaltender son to fight the opposing goalie in one QMJHL game.

"While we appreciate the confidence necessary for a professional athlete to succeed, there is a thin line between it and arrogance. Sadly, this is was one line Mr. Roy's superstition didn't prevent him from stomping on frequently."

I didn't sleep worth a f*** last night, so this might not make much sense. Which is different, since they are usually so sensible.

We start the day with @CanadianFlyer88 on the clock, @Rebels57 on deck, @BiggE on the lido deck, and Striiker on the lido afterdeck.

Yeah, man, I don't know. Someone posted a video by The Slits the other day, and it was tremendous. (I read about the lead singer, who was like 14 years old and German when they started [and still German when they finished] and she had a crazy life - she went with her partner and lived in the jungle in Indonesia and one other place among the indigenous people before moving to Jamaica, where her partner was murdered, and later she gave up her kids to her stepfather - John Lydon of the Sex Pistols. Not kidding. She got breast cancer, refused to get the chemo, and died at just 48.)

Anyway, after playing that video this band popped up on Youtube. I thought they were OK, even though they are completely different than The Slits.

The Sockeyes don't have much of a sweet tooth, unless it's for our classic Murphy's Smoked Salmon ice cream, of course, so we'll go simple with our team dessert selection.

Hot fudge sundae, which apparently has its own day.

@Rebels57
Underrated dessert as-is, but toss in a brownie and it starts approaching the greats.

The Methgators are proud to bring to Jacksonville, America’s first great leading man, DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS!
1680285396320.jpeg

Douglas Elton Fairbanks Sr. (born Douglas Elton Thomas Ullman; May 23, 1883 – December 12, 1939) was an American actor and filmmaker. He was best known for his swashbuckling roles in silent films, including The Thief of Bagdad, Robin Hood, and The Mark of Zorro, but spent the early part of his career making comedies.

Fairbanks was a founding member of United Artists. He was also a founding member of The Motion Picture Academy and hosted the 1st Academy Awards in 1929. With his marriage to actress and film producer Mary Pickford in 1920, the couple became 'Hollywood royalty', and Fairbanks was referred to as "The King of Hollywood", a nickname later passed on to actor Clark Gable.

Though he was considered one of the biggest stars in Hollywood during the 1910s and 1920s, Fairbanks's career rapidly declined with the advent of the "talkies". His final film was The Private Life of Don Juan (1934).

I’m guessing that young @Striiker has never seen a silent film

How is Snoop doing?
He hasn't worsened! We had very runny diarrhea starting at about 2pm yesterday, had about 5 or 6 bouts (no accidents though) until he threw up bile this morning. That's when we called the vet

He's otherwise not ill-appearing. Has normal energy levels, eating and drinking still, normal urine and urinary frequency. We were just going to wait it out thinking it to be a stomach bug, but then he threw up.

We got a de-wormer, some gut antibiotics, an anti-nausea med, and new food for a few days high in probiotics, moisture, nutrients, and other healthy gut things.

The vet just didn't have great bedside manner. She concentrated more on him being crazy on the scale/assessment table (normal for him) than our actual ailment. Came in with a f***ing muzzle recommendation and "calming treatments". f*** off lady, our regular vet does just fine.
