In keeping with #lore, our International Hockey Team choice will be based on the selection of the Chimpanzees' first Legend Player (before we knew there would be a gazillion).

Our Legend Player steps to the podium...

I'm not happy about what happened last night, but I am also not surprised.

We start the day with @Young Sandwich on the clock, @Asnito on deck, @Strawberry Fields on the lido deck, and mja on the lido afterdeck with a pair (phrasing).

I had a dream the other night. We were on an island, and there was a lot of jungle, which made me uncomfortable - we didn't actually encounter any snakes, so I had moments of respite. There was also some kind of golf course. It was a dating show, natch. About five guys (including me) and five girls. I recognized them from Korean TV, but I can't remember from where. There was flirting and snacking and drinking, the usual. Nothing really memorable happened during that part. At some point it shifted and I was a teacher teaching them something. Right there in the jungle, in a clearing under a tree, with a picnic table off to the side. I was still part of the dating, obviously - I wouldn't let teaching get in the way of that. And there was a tiger wandering around loose. A huge, real tiger. As much as I claim I would love to hug a giant kitty like that, it was terrifying. He would follow me as I walked slowly around the picnic table keeping it between us. One of the girls came over and hit it lightly on the side of its belly with a book, and it followed her off-screen. A few minutes later I was under a different tree, and a smallish, shaggy white dog came up to me. It growled like a tiger - same baritone, same depth, same volume. I couldn't see his face with all the fluff covering it.

Luckily I had to pee desperately and woke up. Piss to the rescue - now that's a twist. Take that, M. Night Shamalamadingdong.

At least we get that shit out of the way early today with a 1 p.m. kickoff. I hope they fight enough to protect the younglings.

We start the day with Defect II, AKA @Asnito, on the clock, @Young Sandwich on deck, @ajgoal on the lido deck (someone remind me that I have his pick), and GKJ on the lido afterdeck.

I watched quite a good one from China last night, called "Let the Bullets Fly" (2010). It was described in the review someone left as "A Chinese 'Miller's Crossing.'" As you know, that is my co-favorite movie of all time, so I was intrigued. It ended up not being exactly that, but I can see exactly why someone would raise the comparison. It is set during the Warlords period in the 1920s in the south of China. There is this bandit and his gang who rob a train and take two hostages, one of whom is a con man heading to this town as an imposter for the governor the town is expecting to arrive. The bandit decides to do that instead, but spares the con man and makes him his counselor. He also beds the con man's wife. He immediately gets into conflict with the gangster running the town, played by Chow Yun Fat. It's not as action-packed as I would have liked, but it is very funny. It is kind of like a cross between "Miller's Crossing" and "Kung-Fu Hustle," though nowhere near as good as either. Having said that, Jiang Wen - who both directed and stars as the bandit - is definitely very talented. I'm going to look into his other films at some point.

Now I'm watching a program about nature in China, because there is f*** all else on. There are two snow leopards, a male and a female, who start off growling at each other before making sweet love doggy style, then nuzzle each other's faces. It's kind of the opposite thing I am used to from watching Chinese dating shows.
