Difference between contenders and pretenders.
Its the standard, "I'll bet you that one of several guys I like will be better than the one real pick we have." BS.
You want to pick one guy, go ahead but the way you phrase it, it's just saying, if I had two 2nd round picks near yours, it would be better than having 1.
No shit.
Carolina has a deep and talented prospect pool. They have more picks than Vancouver. They're a better team than Vancouver.
Yet somehow there are still some here, and tons of casuals, who still make excuses for Benning. Absolutely hilarious.
Yes, and the main reason that Benning was hired is that he had a scouting background and would restock the shelves with quality prospects. Here we are 7 years later with zero depth, a barren farm team, 1 top 100 pick in the each of the last two drafts, and we just traded a top 10 pick for a guy our “scouting guru” could have drafted in the 5th round. Doh.Carolina regularly has more than 7 picks in the draft despite being an actual top team. Jim Benning runs one of the worst teams in the league AND walks into every entry draft with 1 or 2 picks in the top 100. It's unreal.
It's really remarkable. And it's not even close in terms of how much better they are than the Canucks currently, how many picks they have, and how much better their prospect pool is. It's like they are operating from an entirely different playbook.Carolina has a deep and talented prospect pool. They have more picks than Vancouver. They're a better team than Vancouver.

the zero depth is a horrible take. i agree it could be better, but its not as bad as people push. you have to consider the amount of prospects they have graduated/tradedYes, and the main reason that Benning was hired is that he had a scouting background and would restock the shelves with quality prospects. Thanks, sad sad3rd gone for Dickensen
4th gone for..Madison Bowey picks swap
The pick we traded to Dallas is coming up.
Incredibly smart in such an aberration of a year with minimal views. Take as many shots as you can.

… and your potato pick goes with it.
The whole point is that you need to maintain depth throughout your system to create waves of prospects.
We have, in 8 years, we have graduated 5 roster players of note from our draft picks. I'm sorry that's not good enough for how bad this team has been and how high our selections have been. It all started by duffing two top-6 picks in the first 3 years.
Why has this slowed to a crawl? Last 3 picks have taken like half an hour. Usually it's boom boom boom at this point.
We are going to miss Brackett so bad.

I guess there's two ways of looking at it....trading so many picks signals the fact that with a core of young guys like Boeser, Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Rathbone and Demko, the 'future' is 'now' for the Canucks.
Stockpiling more picks and prospects at this point makes your prospect pool look a lot better and gives posters on HF Boards a lot more to talk about--but does absolutely nothing to get the current NHL roster over the hump.
Let's be completely forthright here. It's playoffs next season or bust for the Benning-Green regime. We know it. They know it. So be prepared for more trades like the one for OEL.
The effect has been stunning and immediate IMO.
