I dono much about these names, But from everything I am reading, a guy like Klimovich is exactly the type of player you draft in round 2/3
Extremely high upside, Lack of scouting due to country, High offensive talent.
I am completely happy with it

This is definitely true. Each pick is under such a microscope when you barely have any picks. If we are sitting with 3 second rounders you have much more freedom for a reach.

Exactly. I love the potential here but I really question the drafting strategy and the amount of scouting that went into it.

Carolina is having an unbelievable 2nd round. Basically 3 1st round level talent guys so far.

Good teams have lots of picks and keep the pipeline going. It’s interesting to watch southern teams like Carolina, Florida and Tampa build strong contenders while the Canadian clubs with much more rabid fan bases trade picks just to try to make the playoffs. And then people wonder why Canadian teams don’t win a Cup.

Meanwhile one of the worst teams in the last decade has one selection in the first 136 picks. And nothing in the first 82 last year.

Thing is, all three of those teams were serious cup contenders and TB won it all and they still often have more picks than we have even after we consistently finish bottom 10 in the league.
