It’s always funny seeing ppl overreact to late round picks selection on the draft day
Especially this year…
Look, if he sucks in his D+1 year, then we can crucified him and Jimbo

Where does he play this season btw

Stankhoven, Pinelli and Chibrikov were all up at our pick. Morrow goes one before us, meaning if we had lost one more game (and not made one of/the worst trade in franchise history) we'd have had our pick of Eklund/Clarke and then Morrow and the rest.

I'll reserve judgment on who we went with but we passed on some guys that will hurt if Klimovich doesn't land.

It is funny to see people give an opinion on a hockey message board.

I was hoping to wake up with potentially some new picks in a schmidt or holtby trade that happened early morning

Feels like our pick was a reach and he could have been had at least 10-20 picks later, but oh well. I don't think anyone was expecting management to trade down for more picks or pick up more. Only perennial great GMs like Pierre Dorion have that capability.

Klimovich is the the kind of high risk-high reward guy you take with your found money picks like if we somehow got a pick for Holtby or multiple picks from Schmidt.
when you have one pick in the first 4 rounds, you want a guy who’s a safer bet to become an NHLer, even if his ceiling is slightly lower.

This is definitely true. Each pick is under such a microscope when you barely have any picks. If we are sitting with 3 second rounders you have much more freedom for a reach.

I have a bet going that Ottawa is going to take Brent Johnson

Out of the last 7 drafted defenseman to go to North Dakota
Ottawa has drafted 6 of them

they LOVE that school
