Many folks around here loved to diss Luongo because he played on a rival team. Typical homer BS - ironically they are guilty of the same thing that they constantly criticize about other fan bases.
Well, I didnt realize he was 4th all time in wins, but he never stood out to me as a great goalie.

I appreciate Luo and delivers HOF, the only question is how much playoff choking he did.

But the wins thing is so dumb, we should calculate goalie wins by ROW since the shootout. Don't list total wins, list ROW, every shootout figure was a tie back before then.

Here we go. Next we're going to hear that Crawford deserves it more.

If Lou hadnt been absolutely robbed of the Vezina in 2007, there wouldnt even be a fringe debate as to his worthiness.

As it is, he was elite for damn near a decade and great even longer than that. No problem with him as a first ballot hof inductee.

It should be remembered era that Luongo played in which artifically inflates wins via shootout

Luongo never won Vezina (Had five top 5 finishes), Only award win was sharing a Jennings (With Schneider) and won no SC

For comparable of not HOF worthy according to voters

Joseph = 454 wins (7th)
Five top 5 finishes for Vezina and no cup

Osgood = 401 wins (13th)
One Vezina top 5 finish , 2 shared Jennings (One with Vernon and one with Hasek) but won 3 cups (two as starter) and was starter in another cup run in which Wings lost in game 7 (To Pens)

Ryan Miller = 391 wins (14th)
Won a single Vezina (2010) but no other top 5 finishes nor any SC appearances or wins

Vernon = 385 wins (16th)
Had three top 5 Vezina finishes, Won Conn Smythe, Shared a Jenning trophy (With Osgood) and was starter for 2 cup winners (89 Flames and 97 Wings)

Vanbiesbrouck = 374 wins (17th)
Won a single Vezina (1986) while finishing top five 3 other times and was in net for Panthers 96 final run

Moog = 372 wins (18th)
Had four top 5 Vezina finishes, Shared a Jennings (With Lemelin). Won 3 cups as backup though in first Oilers cup he was winning goalie for final 2 games of SCF and outplayed Fuhr. Was starter or partner in three additional finals losses in Edmonton and Boston

Barrasso = 369 wins (19th)
Won Vezina (1984) and had three additional top five finishes, Calder (1984), Share of Jennings (With Suave). Won starting goalie for two cup winning teams

If Luongo is HOF worthy then there is no damn good reason Vernon, Moog, Barrasso and Vanbiesbrouck should not be in HOF and there isn't much difference between Josephy/Luongo
Only CuJo is a HOF of those guys.

It's not that Luongo isn't a HOF, more that CuJo deserves to be in but isn't.

07 wasn't even the year he was jobbed the most.

You may be right. Just the year I remembered being most dumbfounded. That was the year he dragged an absolutely trash Canucks team to the 2nd round stopping almost 50 shots a night, wasnt it?

Woulda coulda shouldas don't matter to me. That is like blaming the refs for a loss.
That's entirely though on voters, the gms, being dumb. It's not like oh if he did better but the calls... no it's just objectively Lou was the best goalie in 2004 on any rational scale.

But much like dumb baseball pitcher voting they go by wins often or are judging by prior success.

You cannot compare officiating to voting.

Award voting is much closer to, say, figure skating judging than it is on-ice officiating.
